To look up and find your name on the list of those taken makes it just a little more painful. My thoughts are with his family. Who knows? We could have been distant cousins. Rest in peace.
You are a great hero. We can't find any one like you. We miss you. Inshalah, you are in al-jana, and god bless your mother. Inna lilah waina ilayhi rajioon.
My name is Carol Greenburg. Ruth Lapin was my second cousin. Sadly, my parents and I had lost touch with Ruth some time ago, but I followed her adoringly all around my grandparent's many times when I was a little girl. My late brother often spoke of her fondly, and my uncle was very close to her. The last time I saw Ruthie, I couldn't have been much older than eight. At 47, I still keenly remember how she and her then-fiance, Heather's dad, took so much time to pay attention to a needy little girl who had no one her age to play with and many breakables to avoid. Years later, among the many things I learned about her at her memorial, I found out that she had become a Girl Scout leader. Although my encounters with Ruth were brief and long ago, I can say from personal experience that no one could be better qualified for such a calling. I think we all lost more than we can ever know when we lost her.
I lived across the street from Mimmo. (We lived on the corner of Maclay Ave. and Seddon St.) Mimmo was a really good friend and had a wicked sense of humor. We grew up together until I moved ... occasionally crossing paths after that.
Mimmo,
I think about you all of the time. I am a better person for having known you. Although I can't imagine the pain that your family still goes through, I only hope that by seeing that you are a hero in so many people's eyes — especially mine — it can provide some solace.
Turning 50 this year ... thought we would be doing that together ... a big celebration. Thought we would be growing old together ... love and miss you more than ever!
The Falling Man—that was a photo (and I film I had seen on youtube). I could not get out of my mind.
Along with the horror of that day, there seemed to be some sort of glory, stillness, peace—when I looked at the photo, I saw a man who had made a decision and who didn't seem frightened or terrified but full of trust in god and his eternal life afterward. That made me shiver and smile at the same moment: What a brave man you were, Norberto! So these words to you and your family:
I honestly feel connected with you and must say that I have seen an angel: It was you, Norberto! God bless you, and love to you and your family from the bottom of my heart.

This web site is affiliated with 24K Gold Music Shows - an oldies music showband performing in Central Florida. The members of the showband feel strongly that there were many heroes manifested during the onslaught of terror associated with 9-11, and present this site as a memorial to those whose lives were lost, and the loved ones they left behind.
24K Gold Music Shows perform primarily 50-60s Oldies, Elvis songs, DooWop, and older country music, as well as patriotic songs. All of the musicians, singers, dancers, and staff of the 24K Gold Music Shows extend their deepest sympathies to every one who lost loved ones on that terrible day.
24K Gold Music Shows performs an original song called "The Day America Cried", which is a 9-11 tribute song. In the live shows, they honor with the song not only the heroes of 9-11 but also those who are still alive: the police personnel, firefighters, emergency personnel, soldiers, and others who have served our country and kept us all safe.
Listen also to this beautiful, touching song "Love Can Build a Bridge" by 24K Gold Music Shows. Even though strictly speaking it's not a 9-11 memorial song, I still feel it is a very fitting song for the occasion!
