I have heard so many devastating stories of the people who were so greatly affected by the tragedy of 9/11. I think that, for everyone in America, it is still a breathtaking event that will never be forgotten by anyone, affected or not. I feel for the the families of the men, women, and children whose lives were lost that fateful day. My blessings to you all.

We are the future of America. On Tuesday, 9/11/01, our lives were changed.

Our parents told us not to worry,
But we saw the destruction on TV.
That's when we knew rescue had to hurry.
Some thought it had to be a bomb,
But we saw a plane crash into a building,
And that's when we saw Americans become strong and calm.
Things may get a little rough,
But always remember to be strong and tough.
They brought down some buildings that we can replace.
We also know the world will make our home a better place.
They also took some Americans' lives again,
But this time the bad guys don't realize where they've been.
We will all have to be strong
Because rebuilding won't be short, it will be long.
Our parents told us we will overcome
Because terrorism is so very dumb.
We will stand tall, proud, and strong.
We will pray for Americans and the world as we cry,
But we believe that god's not ready for us all to die.
Our president and leader said,
"Make no mistake about it, we will win this war
When we go and bust down the terrorists' door."
We as kids are short and small,
But today so very tall.
We aren't scared because we are Americans.

My brother and I wrote this when we were younger. He was 9, and I was 7. It was written in 2001.

I like the website. Some of the poems are very moving. It was a very terrible day, which we will never forget no matter how long we live. I can hear the countdown and the explosions when the building went down. God Bless all those people who died and their families and the people who search for the truth!

That day was a day everyone will remember—September 11, 2001—as a day of horror. America was very sad and worried because they thought, "What will happen tomorrow and all the days after?" Because of this tragedy, America is now stronger and aware.

I remember the day like it was only yesterday. I was in 4th grade in gym class. My teacher wouldn't tell us what was wrong, yet I remember knowing that something was. Going home that day as many others feared, I did too. In growing older and understanding the events that took place on that day, I learn stories of many men and women who sacrificed themselves, and men and women who were selfless, putting every ounce of their will into finding and helping others. I truly was inspired. Today, now at the age of 16, I want to be a firefighter. I want to have not the opportunity to be a hero, but the opportunity to make a difference in another's life. Becoming a firefighter to me is not only the chance to make a change in maybe one individual's life, but also my way of showing my respect and gratitude to those men and women. I truly thank them. I wish their families the best.

Growing up I sometimes wished I had the opportunity to serve alongside those fine men and women on that fateful day. Becoming a firefighter when I am older is the best way I know how. I hope that one day I can even slightly come close to making a difference like they did.

My deepest respects,
Samantha Sterling

Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE! Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
