Hello-
Thanks so much for your supporting the expressions of those on your site.I figured I'd reach out to you...feels like we're on more than the same wavelength...what a website!

As the fifth anniversary approaches, I'd like to share this song with you. I watched the towers blaze and, from
'out of the blue,' crumble... from across the Hudson River and my, that day, too-beautiful-of-a-view of the Manhattan skyline.

I am not promoting my performance, but the song/message, and want to share it...and further its listening audience, and perhaps, artists' interest in performing it...

It emerged just before the first anniversary, in 2002, and I did my best with limited musical ability and recording skills to capture and communicate intimately love, care and understanding, and unity, not only of our country, but our world. I tried to get it some radio airplay at the second anniversary in 2002 just after writing and rushing my homespun recording, with not much success as, before even hearing the song the response was typically..."a 9/11 song?!...not interested!..."

As our human emotional system processes such trauma and pain, perhaps it was--even then, one year later--still too soon to re-visit and remember the event, as it was still so present for us...

While writing it, I had (and still have a hope for realizing) this vision of a mass of Americans--regular people of all
backgrounds--from the pit of Ground Zero--singing and chanting this love-song to all those around the world who might quite rightly feel that we don't care... Well, many of us do! Love, understanding, compassion and inclusion surely can't hurt...

You're welcome to post this link/this song on your web-site(s), perform the song, play the song on radio broadcast and/or events and forward it to interested parties...Please let me know and I'll provide you with the full resolution audio version, as only the mp3's (lower resolution) are posted on my site.

I just posted a page on my website which I in fact just started for my personal sports coaching of high school and youth athletes... but at least there's a place for you to find it with easy access.

The link (below) is to mp3 versions of the song:
a) Orchestrated version; and
b) the original, Acoustic Version; and
c) the Lyrics (which I've included here below as well)

http://www.erikbernstein.com/music.html

I'd be happy to deliver the full higher resolution CD of the recordings...and/or play it...If you know anyone interested or any groups who would like to broadcast, and/or perform it, please forward it to them and let me know... Thanks.

Hoping it resonates with you... as it is intended, though perhaps sad, as loving inspiration...

Thanks for your time and attention, and for what you are doing...

Love and Peace to you!

Thanks again-

Erik

Lyrics:

Intro:

In memory of our heroes, who fought war on Ground Zero
Our hearts are bleeding badly, we miss you all so sadly…

Verse I:

September, the month we won't forget
Remember, the wake up call we'd get
A lovely morning, crisp clear sky, a hopeful sun, the air… filled with hopes and dreams
Little did we know more than the sun would burn, taking precious lives with desperate schemes

Chorus:

The Eleventh of September, the day we will remember
We won't forget our heroes, who fought war on Ground Zero

Verse II:

We’ve lost our claim to innocence, it made no sense, blood stains our own soil
We lie in grief and disbelief, our blood burns sky-scraping-high, it's at a boil
Every day since we've grieved in pain, schemed our own schemes… get back the ones to blame
But deep inside we know the truth, revenge alone can't yield our needed change

Verse III:

We're still in shock, in so much pain, trying to figure out with time who's right, what's wrong
Our world's blowin' up to pieces, seems we haven't heeded our own words to our own song
America, the Beautiful… It was, still is, so blessed to call it home
But desperation wails, and fails us all, when all don't have enough to call their own

Bridge I:

Since that day in 2001 the world seems so much smaller, so much colder
Hurt leads to pain, and rage to arms, but our world, she just needs our arms for us to hold her

Chorus:

The Eleventh of September, the day we will remember
We won't forget our heroes, who fought war on Ground Zero
Our hearts are bleeding badly, we miss you all so sadly
Though we all may not have known you, we mourn you, you're our family

Verse IV:

Though they may be blamed we're all the same, we've got to face and call and right all the wrongs we've done
The blaming game, and war's the same, we know in our heart of hearts, never will be won
We need empathy, compassion and one-love between sisters, brothers, daughters and our sons
Our enemies, their families, our countries and our world, we've got to know we're one

Bridge II:

Though it's hard to do, to live the truth of brother-hood, for all, not just for some
We've got enough land, food and fuel for all, one thing we need to grow is of is our human love

Chorus:

The Eleventh of September, the day we will remember
Though our eyes may not keep crying, we won't let your dreams crash with your dying
We'll all live better for you, we so much all adore you
Though your fates were so insane, your lives won't be in vain…and this we can assure you

Chorus:

When we go beyond September, let's make sure we remember
to see all God's precious people to be each other's equal,
And see each other clearly, love one another dearly,
not 'as if' we're the same, or no one is to blame, but with love, because we're family.

Chorus:

So, please, Heroes know we'll miss you, when we put our love out for you
to our world that's so in danger, we'll all use your love to change her
We will heed your spirit voices to guide us in our choices
Let your spirit-voices sing, from Sea to Shining Sea, with us to our World-family…

Chorus:

We love you...we love you…we love you…we love you
We love you...we love you…we love you…we love you
We love you...we love you…we love you…we love you…In memory of our heroes…

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy in New York City. Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. The sponsors of this site are paying all expenses, and are thereby keeping the site free from advertising that would take away from the solemnity of the purpose. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE! Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
