Hello, Edlen, Carol,

If you only knew how many times I would say, “What would Allen do in this situation?” as a form of strength. I didn’t really have a dad, but I would see Allan going to work every day tirelessly, going to meetings tirelessly.... He was not perfect, but it was so easy to see the intention to always do what was right, no matter the situation.... So I have that installed in my memory, and I have a certain strength because of my time with him.... He was my brother, and there’s no replacement.

Well, as we approach the sixth anniversary of the loss of Alan and so many others, I still struggle with my feelings. I miss Alan so much at times I still cannot believe that it is real and he is gone. Thanks and praise to our God in heaven; I know I will see him again. I thank all of you who leave your kind comments here; they are a comfort to us all.

I worked with Alan at MPCS Video Industries on West 57th St in the 1980s. We weren't great friends, but it was a very friendly place and I certainly remember having conversations with him. I was living in Madrid on Sept.11, 2001 and remember seeing a photo of him flash on the screen while watching the special "Heroes" concert on television. I later verified that it was indeed Alan. He is the only person I know that died that day so it's him that makes it so real for me. Just now by reading the other comments did I find out that he continued his career in A/V. Windows on the World, it must have been a wonderful place to work.

To Alan's wife Edlene, five years later, I'm still so sorry for your loss.

I met Alan through my work with him at the Shomburg Center in Harlem. We worked part time for the Media Dept. there. I remember him as being focused and deligent. A family man who loved his children which he spoke of from time to time. I was stunned find out he was in the towers on that fateful day. I know he died doing the work that he loved. My heart and prayers go out to his family.

Rest In Peace Alan.

I am sad to see the original site memorializing Alan is gone. There were so many who left such loving comments and memories. I hope they find this page as we approach the 5th year in commemoration of all those lost, but for us it is Alan. We love and miss him dearly.

Alan was a very kind person. I remember meeting him many years ago, and just recently heard he had died at the WTC. My heart goes out to his wife who I remember meeting many years ago, I wish her the peace that excels all thought.

I knew Alan and his family personally.  Alan and I were schoolmates in the Bronx, NYC briefly and I knew him as a gentle giant of a person.  Tall and imposing but quick to smile, always ready to extend his hand to help, always ready to listen, always there for someone. Alan certainly deserved to live life to the fullest and see good for all he did for others. He will be remembered for those good things and so much more. I am proud to have known him and his family. I look forward to seeing him again.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.
