I wish I had a chance to get to know you.

RIP, Alok. Wishing your family and friends strength and courage on the 10th anniversary of your death.

I went to high school with Alok. I remember how smart and kind he was. I wish I had known him better. He would have been a wonderful friend. I found out that he had lost his life in the Towers at our 10th Huntsville High School Reunion Class of 1996. My former classmates and I shared in a few minutes of silent reflection as we honored him. Today I honor him and his family and I am thankful that he knew him.

Alok, we did not know each other. I remember you from Hofstra U walking around campus. I remember seeing your picture alongside the headline that read something like, Hofstra Student Died on 9/11. It is now 10 years later and this stranger remembers you. My thoughts go out to your family.

I always remember Alok being spoke of with such great respect. He inspired so many others to do their best and was a role model for all. He was greatly missed 10 years ago, is still missed even more so today. Those who were touched by his life will never ever forget him and the wonderful person that he was.

I also went to high school with Alok. I had many classes with him and remember how warm and funny he was. My thoughts are with his loved ones today.

I went to Huntsville High School with Alok as well—we had a couple of classes together senior year. He was an amazing person with so much potential! I just learned of him being in the WTC today and his family, as well as all of the bereaved families from this day, will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I have and always will look up to Alok as my inspiration. He is remembered every day and will always be my brother, my best friend, and my hero.

I loved Alok...I miss him all the time. He was my best friend and my confidant. I was incredibly lucky to have had such a wonderful man's friendship and loyalty. I hope that I can give to others at least half of what he had given me. I know he is watching over all his loved ones. I miss him terribly.

I went to Huntsville High School with Alok. We were on the Red and Blue Newspaper Staff together. He always had a smile on his face. I don't remember seeing him when he didn't look like he was laughing about something. He was brilliant and had a great personality at the same time! That is a rare combination, and he will be dearly missed.

Alok was my brother.  He had taught me so much: in sports, school, in life, and some other things big brothers can only teach. He led me by example with his diligence, and always believed in me. He watched out for me and gave me advice all the time.  I bet he is still watching over me.  I regret that I never said thanks for what he did.  So, thanks.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
