Anthony was such a wonderful, humble kid. He was a childhood friend of Mark Acevedo and of my son Michael. We lived in the same building. My heart goes out to my friend Sonia. Such a beautiful friend. I know her pain. I, too, lost my son Mark in 1992. She was a wonderful mom. When you loose a child, part of your heart goes with them. And I'm sure that Mark and Anthony are angels and are hanging out in the lord’s paradise and looking down and watching over us. We’ll miss you forever, Anthony and Mark.

I met Anthony in the 80s at 229E Kingsbridge. He became my best friend and even when I moved back to PR we always kept in touch by phone. I still remember when we used to go play football across the street in Poe park and on Fridays Anthony, Angel and me used to go to the bar at Jerome and he always asks the bartender for a Mistik juice, and till these day every time I go to the Bronx I always remember my good friend. My e mail is mrdnscott9 at hotmail.com

There is another person with the same name, Anthony Alvarado, and he's not dead yet—because that's me.

What can I say? Anthony was the embodiment of what a man should be. Anthony was sent to us from heaven to let us know,  by setting an example, just how special we all really can be. Anthony's love was infectious. He made you want to be a better person, to be an optimist because life is grand. He will always be remembered as a kind, loving, and sweet person to me. I really miss walking into him every now and then in the neighborhood. Me and my sister Janick hung out with Anthony, Carlos, Fernando, etc.... Please feel free to email me at anniedilullo (at) yahoo (dot) com. Anthony, I miss you and wish you were here.

I don't remember when I met Anthony. I knew that I was pretty young, probably around the age of 3 or 5. I can't remember most of the things that we did together, but I will always have one memory on my mind. It was Anthony, his son Joshua, Johnny, my sister Nery, and I. We were all in a line doing the dance and jamming to Limbo-Limbo-Limbo.... Anthony was a great guy! I would never forget him. Even though I was young and might not remember anything, I will always remember his kindness and his love. When the Twin Towers happened, I was too young to notice what was going on and what I was losing. At my age now, 14, I understand. It's a bit harder for me now because he was a great guy! Nothing hurt me more than seeing Sonia, his mom, crying, devastated with tears. Every time I see the World Trade Center collapse, I always cry, not because I want to, but because I have no choice. It affected me in a harsh way, and it's just hard to forget about everything like that. Losing someone you know is hard. It feels like a part of you has been taken away. Anthony, I love you! Sonia, you will always be my Grandma! I love you soo much! God bless you.

Although my best friends and I are not related, we look towards each other as brothers and consider each other's family our own family as well. Today marks the day we lost a member of 'our family'. My family. In his absence, I have seen his son grow and mature into a responsible and respectable young man. It's what Anthony would have wanted, would have raised him to be were he still with us. I know he's up in heaven looking down upon Joshua and the rest of his family with a smile on his face. Proud of what his son has become. Rest easy brother.

I met Anthony on Valentines Day, 1987. We became good friends. Even though we moved apart, we always managed to pick up the phone just to say "Hi". He was the kind of person that you can talk to anytime. We would spend hours and hours on the phone until the break of dawn. The last time we talked, it was the night before 9/11. He called to tell me that he got some tickets to visit me down in Florida for the following weekend. But things changed. My heart and prayers to the Alvarado / Irrizary family.

Anthony, "STILL MISSING YOU"

I lived in the same building as Anthony in the 80's.  He was always like a big brother to me.  We played sports with all our neighborhood friends and we called ourselves "The Kingsbridge Bombers."  We played against different neighborhoods at Poe Park, St. James Park, and Walton H.S.  It was a magical time for all of us and some of the best memories of my life.  Until the day I die, I will be a part of "The Kingsbridge Bombers" and I will never forget the guys: Carlos, Adrian, David, Manny, Vigilio, Cesar, Fernando, Pancho, Abel, Frank, Chino, Watson, Guido, and the rest of the gang.  If anyone wants to get in touch with me, you can email me at mikeacevedo70@yahoo.com.  I'm in the army right now, stationed in Germany, but as soon as I receive something, I'll try to get back to you ASAP.  Anthony, my friend, mentor, and brother-from-another-mother, look down on all of us from heaven and know that you are a permanent memory in all our lives.  MIKE

I grew up with Anthony at 229 E. Kingsbridge road.  We played football, baseball, stickball, and any other sport with our friends.  we called ourselves The Kingsbridge Bombers.  I had a little brother named Mark who also passed away, and when 9/11 occurred, it felt like I lost a big brother.  If anyone ever lived in the Kingsbridge area in the 80's, you would know me.  I moved around 1987.  You can reach me at mikeacevedo70@yahoo.com.  Anyone else, can still email me, because I'd love to talk about how cool Anthony was.  My list of Angels in heaven keeps growing.  He was a true friend.  It's hard to find friends like any of the guys on the team.  It was a magical time in Kingsbridge and I wouldn't change anything about it.  I've been in the army for the last four years and I have three years left.  Even if you don't support the whitehouse, always support the troops.  Take care

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

This web site is affiliated with 24K Gold Music Shows - an oldies music showband performing in Central Florida. The members of the showband feel strongly that there were many heroes manifested during the onslaught of terror associated with 9-11, and present this site as a memorial to those whose lives were lost, and the loved ones they left behind.

24K Gold Music Shows perform primarily 50-60s Oldies, Elvis songs, DooWop, and older country music, as well as patriotic songs. All of the musicians, singers, dancers, and staff of the 24K Gold Music Shows extend their deepest sympathies to every one who lost loved ones on that terrible day.

24K Gold Music Shows performs an original song called "The Day America Cried", which is a 9-11 tribute song. In the live shows, they honor with the song not only the heroes of 9-11 but also those who are still alive: the police personnel, firefighters, emergency personnel, soldiers, and others who have served our country and kept us all safe.

Listen also to this beautiful, touching song "Love Can Build a Bridge" by 24K Gold Music Shows. Even though strictly speaking it's not a 9-11 memorial song, I still feel it is a very fitting song for the occasion!
