Hi,

I am looking for a man named Anthony Segarra from the Bronx, and I suspect the deceased is him. He and my mom have a long history of friendship, and she would be devastated if she found out this was him. If anybody happens to read this, please contact me via email hickman_kyra (at) yahoo (dot) com. My sincerest condolences to those who continue to deal with this loss.

I am the son of Raymond Phillip Segarra, lost touch many years ago, was curious if there was a relation here? Either way, my sincerest condolences for your loss. I can be reached at masegarra98 (at) yahoo (dot) com to discuss.

I am sitting at my rig and decided to Google my name for "the fun of it" to see what I might find. I typed my name in "Anthony Segarra," and received the search details. Then I clicked on this one, Anthony's memorial page. It would have felt odd not to mention his loss and how I sincerely offer my condolences and how linked we are besides names. My favorite sports are baseball and paddleball, and during my tenure with paddleball, I trained 5 NYC Champions. It's truly amazing, as is the fact Ret. Firefighter George Brady, Engine 67, responded that day after the collapses, as many did, and risked all for the next 30 days straight in recovery efforts, in high hopes of finding Anthony and everyone else they could. George is my best friend and respected and loved by many in our community as Anthony was. Indeed, young Anthony, you carry a beautiful name. May God bless these brave many and allow them to sit alongside his side in heaven.

Sincerely,
Anthony Joseph Segarra—at one time the only Segarra in the Bronx, NYC....

This was a good man that I've known all my life. My older cousin was very into sports. (He loved baseball and paddleball most.) He worked as an electrician his entire adult life, and as a young teenager he made his way by shinning shoes. I can still remember him carrying that big shoeshine box everywhere. From shoeshine box to electricians' tool belt with no gap in between. He loved to debate almost anything with almost anyone because he was stubborn, and when he thought he was right ... he was right. Anthony always had a smile on his face in my recollection.

He is in my prayers. He will never be forgotten. His brothers and sisters and wife and children and all who knew him will keep him alive in their hearts. After all these years it's as if it were just yesterday. Until we meet again ... REST IN PEACE. WE LOVE YA.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.
