I will never forget that day as I stood on the 2nd floor of our First Union Trust Department in a building in downtown Charlotte, NC. I never met Tony but I spoke with her daily. She was always a great help to me even though it was just over the phone. I was 23 at the time with no children and still scared to death. Now, on this 10 yr anniversary of such a tragic day I try to explain to my 3 boys how horrible that day was and what a special person Tony was and how she left such an impression on my life. I will remember her and miss her forever.

Dear Antoinette,

I think of you often and of all the fun times that we had while working at the old First National State Bank with Helen and the others. It was great. There are many fond memories. You are dearly missed. Your family and friends continue to pray for you with love. God's blessings, Antoinette.

I met Dduger for the first time at Thanksgiving--he is awesome and such a joy to our family! He is BIG and strong and loves to play and take naps. He is such a good boy, and we are so happy to have him. He was automatically a member of our family even though his "master" (my sister) lives on the east coast and we all live in Indiana (actually, Dduger is pretty much in charge). He just adapted so well and seems to tolerate us. And we couldn't wait to get our hands on him! Its so fun to see my parents tugging on the end of Dduger's rope and laying on the floor with him. I will keep you updated.

My sister just rescued a dog that was named in honor of your loved one. His name is Dduger (that's how they spelled it). He is 2, and he is so sweet, and we are honored to have him in our family--especially in light of his namesake.

I remember. I will always remember.

I know Antoinette was a beautiful person, ’cause I work with her sister Maria. Rest in peace in heaven ’cause now you are one of God's angels. Watch over your family, ’cause they miss you so.

Love ya,
Lillian

When her and her husband moved in, we never talked with them. At the time, she was pregnant with Megan. She was 8 when it happened. They were supposed to move the Saturday after 9/11. About 2 months later her husband had her car towed away. I cried as it passed our house. The day before Christmas Eve, he and Megan left. I still cry.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.
