For some reason I was just thinking about Barbara today. A part of our Landmark Education community from the old days, she and I were passing friends in Bloomington. I loved her love of life and her laughter! Every person matters.

While I did not know Barbara personally, I have decided to run in her honor for my first 5K in the World Trade Center Run to Remember 2009 on Governors Island. I will be wearing her name proudly on my bib that day. Best wishes to your family, and you are in our prayers.
Sincerely,
Barbara Humphery

Even though I did not know her personally, I do send my heart out to all of the friends and family. I know some people that were really close to her, and I really feel for them. You are in my prayers. R.I.P., Barbara Edwards.

I was a student at Palo Verde when the tragic events took place and took Mrs. Edwards from us. I have since graduated and joined the navy to help defend this nation. We miss you.

Dear Mrs. Edwards,
I am the Sailor who unveiled your bench yesterday at the the Pentagon Memorial. Your name stuck with me, so I decided to find out who you where. Upon finding you and reading the the things others have written, I am very honored to have unveiled your memorial bench. I would just like to send my heart out to your family, friends, and students. Even though I did not know you personally, I do know you had a major impact on many lives. We will always remember you and all the others who were lost that day.

Barbara was my mom's best friend--and a friend to everyone, for that matter. I think of Barbara often. It's something that I still cannot fathom that she is no longer able to tell her sons and grandson that she loves them, as I know she did very much. She was lucky in so many ways, because she had so many people love her. She was very thoughtful with her time, as well with her sense of humor. We miss her very much. We keep her family in our prayers.

I went to school with Barbara's son, Scott. We are fraternity brothers. I haven't spoken with him in years. I just learned of this yesterday. My thoughts and prayers are with Scott and his family.

I remember the news coming the next day. After such a horrible day the news just kept getting worse. I was very shocked; I had seen you just a few weeks before that: During the summer you had a broken arm, and you were telling me how much you looked forward to having me in your class again. It was very hard to swallow and didn't hit me fully for hours. Still today, over six years later, it still hurts to remember it. You were such a sweet and caring person and a great teacher. Without you I likely wouldn't have made it through high school; you inspired me. I will NEVER forget that.

You were my teacher for only one year in German class. However, you had to be the coolest teacher anyone could ask for. You encouraged and inspired me to be better more than any teacher ever did. I remember when I heard the news, I felt so dumb not knowing your first name, but when I learned my teacher had passed I couldn't believe it. Thank you for what you gave me and all the right you did in the world. I miss ya Ms. Edwards. Thank you for all you gave us!

It has been several years, but I still remember Barb. She was a friend of mine in Bloomington, Indiana. My main memory of Barb is of her smiling. She was indomitably cheerful, almost always smiling and upbeat. We both were members of the Newcomers Club, and we also attended seminars sponsored by Landmark Education in Indianapolis. There, we continually inquired into how to we could maximize our contribution to others in our family, our community, and the world. She was committed to that. I attended Barb's memorial service the Friday after 9/11. She is still missed.

I didn't know Barbara Edwards, but I know her son Michael and he's a wonderful man. She did a good job raising her kids obviously!

You were always known as Mrs Edwards to me--and what a bright and wonderful woman you were. I am sitting here late at night having just received news that three of my husband's men were lost today in Iraq and thinking of the past and how we get to where we are. At the time when I knew you, and after, I have thought of you often and how bright and wonderful you were. God bless you, your family, and all our troops.

Barbra and I were backyard neighbors in Hyde Park in Bloomington, Indiana. One day we were chatting in the yard and a small plane flew over us, and Barbra told me that her son was actually flying that plane! I asked her if that scared her, and he response was 'No not really, when your time is up... it's up'. When I learned of her death through our other neighbor, Denise, I thought back to that moment. Barbara was an amazing woman, and my thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Not a day goes by that I don't think of Barbara. Her grandson Scotty, Jr. misses her dearly and asks of her often. Scott, Sr. is deployed right now and I feel these are the times I need her most. Scott and I see her smile and laughter through Scotty as he resembles her in personality and looks. You are missed so much Barbara. God Bless.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
what kind of person he/she was,
what nice points you remember about him/her,
what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
what you two perhaps did together,
what he/she meant to you,
or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.

This web site is affiliated with 24K Gold Music Shows - an oldies music showband performing in Central Florida. The members of the showband feel strongly that there were many heroes manifested during the onslaught of terror associated with 9-11, and present this site as a memorial to those whose lives were lost, and the loved ones they left behind.
24K Gold Music Shows perform primarily 50-60s Oldies, Elvis songs, DooWop, and older country music, as well as patriotic songs. All of the musicians, singers, dancers, and staff of the 24K Gold Music Shows extend their deepest sympathies to every one who lost loved ones on that terrible day.
24K Gold Music Shows performs an original song called "The Day America Cried", which is a 9-11 tribute song. In the live shows, they honor with the song not only the heroes of 9-11 but also those who are still alive: the police personnel, firefighters, emergency personnel, soldiers, and others who have served our country and kept us all safe.
The video below is a song you might like by 24K Gold Music shows, called Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.
