You were so young!

R.I.P. Your life shouldn't've been taken at such a young age.

We were behind you today in traffic. In fact, Maria is driving, and we are behind you right now at 1638L29JAN2010 Just wanted to let you know that Curtis and your family are not forgotten.

You are still in my thoughts, Bernard.

Bernard Brown was a very special and important person to me. He didn't treat me that nice in school, but I forgive him for the way he treated me. But other than that, whenever I walked down the hallways, I used to peek in his classroom, and I would see him having a good old time. Every time I would see him, he had the biggest smile on his face. He was full of joy. It was a pleasure knowing Bernard. I had the biggest crush on him. I was devastated when I heard the news about him and Ms. Taylor. I didn't know what to do with myself. Ms. Taylor was a joyful person and always had a smile on her face every time I greeted her. I miss both of you so much, and I will keep praying for you and your families. I love you guys, and you will always be Leckies Angelic Heros. I cry every day because I miss you all so much. Much love, and you're all in my prayers and my heart.

I didn't know Bernard personally. I knew his dad. His dad and I were going through CPO initiation together. I have the program from his memorial service in my charge book box. Only another CPO would know what that means. I'm still saddened greatly by this. Rest in peace, Bernard Jr. And God bless you and your family, brother.

We were neighbors living on the same street when that day took Bernard and several others from our housing area. I remember Bernard every year. With three children of my own, I mourn your loss but celebrate all that he added to the world and others in his short life.

It's been eight years, yet you and your fellow students and teachers are forever in my memory. I, too, teach. When I saw your pictures, when I heard your stories, that day—you could have been my students. I hope that God welcomed you all so fast you had no time to suffer, and I will always remember you, Rodney, Asia, and your teachers. I have to believe that there was a higher purpose served by your deaths that day. I remember your families and pray that God blesses them.

I just learned about Curtis through the scholarship you set up in his honor. My heart breaks all over again. I will remember you in my thoughts and prayers, and I know that sweet child is in God's loving arms. You don't know me, but I want you to know that I am hugging you in my heart!

Though I never knew Bernard, he will be in my thoughts always. God bless you, Bernard.

A beautiful little darling who I am sure brought his parents much joy. I feel the pain of their loss, as did the whole that day on September 11th. I am so so sorry for your loss. May Bernard rest in peace. God bless his family.

This is just a prayer I say to keep me focused in this life I live, and I want to share it with my dear friends, the Browns. We will always keep you in our prayers and love you always:

O God, early in the morning I cry to you.
Help me to pray and gather my thoughts to you, I cannot do it alone.
In me it is dark, but with you there is light;
I am lonely, but you do not desert me;
My courage fails me, but with you there is help;
I am restless, but with you there is peace;
in me there is bitterness, but with you there is patience;
I do not understand your ways, but you know the way for me.
Father in Heaven praise and thanks be to you for the night’s rest,
Praise and thanks be to you for the new day.
Praise and thanks be to you for all your loving-kindness and faithfulness in my past life.
You have shown me so much goodness; let me also accept what is hard to bear from your hand.
You will not lay a heavier burden on me than I can carry.
You make all things serve for the best for your children.
Lord, whatever this day brings, your name be praised.

Cupp and Rusty-
Our prayers are consistently with you. OJ (my oldest son) called me today and said that he wrote a short essay and included Rusty. He says he still remembers the times they spent together. ( He, CJ and Rusty). No one can ever say they truly understand how you both feel. But know that we do care and we share a small portion of your pain and sorrow.
Blessings

Its been 7 years, and on this day, I pray for you and your family. I remember how much Curtis loved his sister, Kortney, and how smart he was. He will never be forgotten in my heart.

Senita and Rusty,
Please know that you all have consistently remained in the prayers of me and my family since that tragic day. It is said that time heals all wounds but I doubt the speaker of those words ever endured the pain that your family has.

I know it is the Grace and Goodness of God that has carried you through and will continue to carry you and your daughter through this. Your son is in heaven at the right side of God.

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Mrs. Brown in Texas during the Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC), who set up the Bernard Curtis Brown II Memorial NASA Space Camp Scholarship to honor his memories. My desire was to meet the parent of the wonderful young man, I did in July 2008. I continue to be amazed by your strength. On this day I ask God to shower you with many "Blessings of Comfort"

I have three boys, and my oldest was the same age when this happened. My heart goes out to you for what you went through, and the fear that you probably had. To your family, may God's grace surround you until you see your precious baby again.

To the family of my second cousin Bernard Brown, be of good cheers for your son lived, loved, and left a legacy to remember. He was raising star in the field of education and he honored his mother and father by doing what was right.
Today I remember your pain, your challenges, and your determination to continue as a family.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

*** Posted by Dr. Junius Batten Pressey, Jr. on 2008-09-11 ***

I have an 8-year old son, I would be very heartbroken if something happened to him, as I know you are about Bernard. Just know that he is with God now doing greater work there for a better good down here. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

God bless this child! He really had the face of an angel! His life was cut too short. In no way was its true value diminished. My heart goes out, after all these years, to his family and loved ones. Time doesn't totally rid us of pain; it only changes its focus. God bless all of you.

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.
