I just saw Christopher in the "9/11 Memorial" commercial speak of his Dad with tears glimmering in his eyes. It played during a Mets game on SNY. I paused the TV, and replayed the commercial over and over again. I had to look up the Man behind the beautiful young boy. My heart goes out to your family. Brian sounded like a remarkable man and I am sure he is looking down on Christopher beaming with pride on what a wounderful young man he is becoming

This year I happened to be listening to the reading of names during the 9/11 memorial, and I heard Brian's name. When someone has the last name Cannizzaro, spelled exactly like mine, I begin to wonder if somehow we might be related. I also realized that we were around the same age, and we both had a baby around the same time. Hearing Brian's story brought tears to my eyes. Whether we are related or not, I wanted to express how deeply sorry I am for the loss of Brian. He sounded like an absolutely amazing man who will never be forgotten. Love and peace to his family and friends.

Sadly, I didn't know Brian, although I'm positive that we're related in some form. From reading what others have posted here, it sounds as though he carried our family name with dignity, pride and honor. My younger brother, Matthew, and I have served multiple combat tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and it's because of Brian's bravery and heroism that my brother and I do what we do everyday. I wish I could have had the chance to meet him. May God continue to bless his family, his friends, and this beautiful country of ours.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Cannizzaro,

May God bring you and your family much love during this time. Thank you both for always being a special part in our children's lives.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.

With much love,
The Chu family

Dear Sonny,

I always come to this site and randomly read these tributes to the heroes of 9/11. I just wanted to express my sympathies to you and to thank you for your sacrifices that you have made. I hope you're able to find some peace in all of this, and please know that Americans all over this country stand with you. If I could ease your pain for a day, I would gladly give up anything I had. God bless you and your family.

I am Brian's father and a retired FDNY fighter of 32 yrs. Brian was the light of our lives, along with his two brothers, one younger, one older. Brian's younger brother Craig was also a FDNY firefighter who was injured and is now retired. Brian was a big strong guy, who always went the limit and held nothing back. He was respected and loved by his peers, a firefighter's firefighter. The pain never goes away. He will be missed forever. He is in my thoughts every night and every waking day. We will be together again.

Although I never met Brian, I couldn't help but notice the name ... were we related? It's not a common name, but still I feel we were connected in some way.... My prayers go to his family and all the ones he left behind. God bless America!

Brian - God bless you. I love you and will never forget you. We never met, but we are blood - we are cousins and you will always be in my heart. Because of your sacrifice, a piece of our family will forever be a part of where the Twin Towers once stood. I salute you on this special day. My life will never be the same... And you will never be forgotten... Regina

I never met Brian, but I have a Wiggles tape, and at the end is a dedication to Brian Cannizzaro. The dedication has a picture of him, and whenever I see his face, I think what a life he had, kids and a wife. It said he was hero, and he and others will never be forgotten.

I didn't know Brian and never saw him. I would like to put a face with his name. I can't explain how I felt after 9-11 and the loss the victims' families must have felt and still be feeling. The one way I thought I could help was to buy a bronze bracelet with a 9-11 Hero's name on it. The proceeds were to benefit the families of fallen firefighters. I received NYC Firefighter Brian Cannizzaro. I get chills every time I wear it and wanted you to know that even though I never met this man, I know he must have been strong, kind, and put everyone else before himself. A TRUE HERO! One day, I plan to travel to New York and give this bracelet to his "brothers" at FDNY Ladder 101 Bn. 32.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Brian, but he is still my hero. I pray for the best for Jaquline and his son Christopher, and the rest of his friends and family that knew him so well. He passed away saving lives, which again, makes him my hero.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
