I remember Brian from when I was with The Fuji Bank's Seattle Representative Office. He was an exemplary HR Director who was always diplomatic and exercised great diplomacy in human relations and resources. He was really adept at bridging Japanese and US corporate culture. I agree with Libby's comment about ensuring employee safety, and, 9 years later, I am still haunted by the thought that even in the face of danger, I don't think Brian would have started evacuating until he had done all he could to secure everyone else's safety. He is a true hero, and I am honored to have crossed paths with him. May his spirit always live on.

I remember Brian from summer tackle football games during my high school years. Ten or so of us would choose sides at one of the local fields. It's funny how much you can miss or admire someone who used to knock you to the ground while you were running with a football.

I went to church with Mr. Thompson. He was a frequent greeter at the 8:15 service at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Dix Hills. I went to school with his son, Dan. After returning from college after 9-11 I realized that he perished. May the Lord bring comfort and healing to his family.

I was Brian's HR liaison at The Fuji Bank's Miami Rep. Office. Brian was a wonderful HR Director who recognized the importance of assisting employees with many things, but what I remember most is he always came to visit to help us through a smooth transition each time our Chief Rep was reassigned and another one came in. I speak on behalf of all the Miami Rep. Office employees when I say that Brian was kind, thorough and a strong individual who faced many difficult situations. Unfortunately, one of the most difficult situations took his life, but If I know him a little bit, he would not have evacuated the building until he knew all the employees had evacuated to safety. That was what I remember most about Brian Thompson. God Bless his family.

Brian was married to my dear first cousin, Kathy.  Althought I did not see him often, when I did meet with him at family gatherings, he was a kind, generous individual who truly loved his wife and his two beautiful chldren.  Although it almost 4 years since 9/11, I think of Brian often and know that he is with our Lord and watching over his family.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.
