Patrick was good to me when I was a boy. I think about him more as this horrible anniversary nears. I was watching and did not know he was up there. Thank God for men like him.

Oddly, time has remained still where your memory lives — you dwell in my heart and inspire me to rise above my shortcomings daily. (I can hear your laughing.) It's sadly funny that, as the years are passing, I'm becoming the person that you knew I would, and it is my heartache that you're not here physically to see it! Of course your magnificent soul does! But I miss you, still, terribly! Never ever are you forgotten!

Paddy,
I was retired from ladder #3 before 9/11 and never had the pleasure to meet you. Thank you for your service to our city and country. Your name has been etched in my mind for as long as I live. There are many people like me in this country. We shall never forget, my friend.

I met Capt. Pat Brown at the funeral of my best friend, Peter McLaughlin in Oct., 1995. He was a no B.S., honorable man. I'd see him again at memorial Bike rides we held in Pete's honor. I went for a long run yesterday, 9-11-10. Throughout the run I thought, what would the innocent people and the heroes that ran into the burning buildings give for just one more day here on earth. After the run I sat down and thought about Pat, a man I did not know well, but sure would have liked to.. if only he had one (or) more days. Not forgotten.

I did not know Patrick personally. As a firefighter I knew of him, respected him, admired him as a colleague, tried to use his morals and beliefs as a fire officer to better myself and crew, and attended his funeral.
Pats death not only is a loss for his family and friends, but also to the fire service which he so obviously dedicated himself to. I will miss Pat along with the other 342 members who gave there lives that day. "Gave" is what they did, they knew what was in store. As I sat at home and watched, I knew what was in store for anyone who was in those buildings. Building construction classes taught me that more than nine floors of fire for an extended time will cause collapse. They gave their lives, and for that they will always have my respect and be heroes in my eyes. Job well done, guys!

I saw the story of Paddy Brown here on Australian T.V. The whole world lost a great man, and all those who lost their lives in the 9/11 tragedy. "LEST WE FORGET."

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.
