Hi Billy! I miss you a lot. I remember meeting you when I was sixteen and you were a lifeguard at Robert Moses Field 2. We were friends for 20 years. You made a tee shirt with my photo on it and gave it to the other firemen you worked with. I still have the tee shirt. Thanks for being my guardian angel. Love, Mary

I am a fireman in Aurora CO, and yesterday 343 Denver Metro Firefighters, including myself, climbed 110 flights in honor of our fallen Brothers that paid the ultimate sacrifice on that fateful day 10 years ago. I had the honor of doing so with a picture of Captain William F. Burke Jr. around my neck. I want the friends and family of Captain Burke to know that we have not forgotten him or any of the brave 343. My thoughts and preyers are with all of you during this difficult time, and please know throughout the nation we are forever in your debt for all the sacrifices that you have made, and thank you for giving us a hero to always admire, respect, and remember.

It is hard to believe that it has been 10 years since 9/11 and I want Captain Burke and his family to always know that he and the other heroes of that day will always live on in our hearts and prayers. Let us all reaffirm that we will never forget the sacrifices made by the heroes and the innocents on that day. We will never forget!

It was an honor to do the Dallas Stair Climb this morning to honor Capt Burke for paying the ultimate sacrifice 10 years ago today. I climbed 110 flights of stairs with his name and picture. It was an honor to be a part of this and I look forward to doing this every year on 9/11 to remember our fallen brothers.

I am a firefighter for the City of Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. Firefighters gathered to climb 110 stories this morning in our gear in honor those who passed on 9/11. We were all given a picture of a firefighter who passed on that day, and were to climb in his honor. I was given the priveledge of climbing for Captain William Burke. We are grateful for all that you did. Thank you.

Thank you Captain Billy - Your heroism is our model of strength. Your sacrifice is our model of love. The men and women who stood up to the dangers to help others on that day are the inspiration of this day. You are remembered as the rose of this great tragedy. Thank you Captain Billy Burke and all those that risked and sacrificed their lives that day. God Bless you my brother - In Christ.

10 year rememberance of those who lost their lives, remembering all the heros that day there were so many in and out of uniform and reminding young people in school so we will never forget. It would be more fitting that there was a place at the table for the first responders and their families as we remember the events and those that were killed and those who risked their lives saving others 9/11/01

Many thanks to all who wrote on this site. Billy, my oldest brother, would be proud and well humbled by it all. While his death hurt more than words can describe, we know that he showed great courage and leadership on 9/11.

Billy Burke was a friend of mine and an even closer friend to Brian M. who I worked with at IBM. Billy and Brian went to College together. Billy was always laughing and smiling. He was a joy to be around. He was a very handsome man and always got the ladies attention with his genuine "Irish Charm". We had many fun bachelor times together in Manhattan in the 1980s. I attended his funeral at St. Patricks on October 25th and there were over 5,000 people in attendance including Mayor Guiliani. God Bless you Billy as I remember you in my prayers. You are a real hero to me and you are missed.

Happy Birthday, Billy! Today would have been your 56th birthday. I know this because I was always right behind you. I would call you on your birthday and let you know what an old man you were. I miss you every day. I lecture around the country, and I frequently speak about my best friend, Billy Burke, and the life lessons he has taught me. I still believe you are up there with Patty Garrigan having a grand ole time. I love you, my friend....
