Happy Birthday, Billy! Today would have been your 56th birthday. I know this because I was always right behind you. I would call you on your birthday and let you know what an old man you were. I miss you every day. I lecture around the country, and I frequently speak about my best friend, Billy Burke, and the life lessons he has taught me. I still believe you are up there with Patty Garrigan having a grand ole time. I love you, my friend....

Not one day passes that I do not think about Billy Burke. He was a "man amongst men." I loved him, and I will never forget him. God bless his soul and all of the other wonderful human beings that we lost on 9/11.

My grandfather was a fire captain as well, but in California, and I'm also wife of a US Marine who was deployed in Japan on that horrible day and has since been deployed both to Iraq and to Afghanistan.... I want to thank you and your family. I appreciate you and your ultimate sacrifice. We as a nation will never forget.

You lost your life while trying to save others, and there is no greater sacrifice, therefore no greater salute. Rest in peace. x x

Again, like many before me, I saw Billy's name on an episode of Friends. God bless you. x-x-x

I just saw the name Capt Billy Burke on Joey's shirt on Friends. I googled the name and found this site. "Thank you" to all the NY Firefighters for the sacrifice that you made for America. You are not forgotten. And thanks to Friends for the reminder....

I have seen almost every episode of "Friends," and I remember after 9-11 seeing episodes where one would wear a shirt or cap that said FDNY, but I just watched the episode where Joey is wearing a T-shirt with Capt. Billy Burke's name on it. I don't know how I never noticed his name before. I googled his name and this is the site I found. I still can't believe what happened on that awful day. My daughter was six months old then. I now have three daughters. I pray for our nation and thank God for people like Capt. Billy Burke who make this country as great as it is. Lots of prayers for the victims' families, as well.

I'm a police officer in Tennessee. I was watching an episode of the popular TV Sitcom Friends when I noticed that actor Matt LeBlanc was wearing a t-shirt with an NYFD emblem on it during the opening credits. I paused the DVD to see whose name appeared on the shirt, and found it to be that of Mr. Burke. Although I never knew Mr. Burke, I wanted to take the time to say Thank You to him and his family for their wonderful sacrifice on 9/11. I pray Mr. Burke knew Jesus Christ as his Savior. The United States of America, the State of New York, and New York City will forever be indebted to this Hero for His Unselfish Sacrifice. May God Bless the Burke Family, and may God Bless America.

On this Anniversary of 9/11, I want Capt Burke and his family to know that he will never be forgotten. He will always be remembered as a Hero and a man who sacrificed his own life to help others. We will never forget this brave man and he will live forever in our thoughts and prayers.

I just stumbled across this page.... I never knew Captain Burke, but I wanted to say that the sacrifice that he and many others made will never be forgotten. Much love to those lost, their friends, and the families they left behind. Know that there are lots of people like me who have you in our thoughts and prayers....  --->--@

I never knew Capt Burke. I graduated Plainview OB high school in 1974, so I must have seen him in the halls. When I found out recently that a fellow high school alumnus was one of the true American heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11, I felt that I needed to honor his memory.

Just came across this page. Glad to see so many familiar names here. (Got to give a special mention to Sean from Ireland! Wow. I'm the brother who picked you and Mike Berry up from Billy's firehouse on 8/01.) And names that just met Billy's memory after 9/11. Hope everyone sees this; it all means so much. Thanks to all, and never forget!

Happy birthday, Billy! I was walking with my family this morning on the beach thinking of you. All the years you were at the beach. All the times we went to Tobay beach surfing, checking out the girls, just hanging out. We had many magical times, and you will forever be in my heart, thoughts, and memory. I miss you always....

You are truly missed on this day. You were a hero.

I lived across the street from Engine 22 and would often see Captain Burke at the Deli in the morning. We were both early risers. On this Anniversary of 9/11 I just wanted to express that he is still remembered and that he will forever be a Hero. May God continue to bless him and his family.

I was watching FRIENDS season 8, episode 13 and Joey is wearing a shirt with Capt. Billy Burke on it. I was curious as to who this was.

Hi Billy,

I have been on this site half a dozen times now in the last couple of months. I can't say why, but you and your family popped into my head. It's hard to believe that it's been eight years since I visited you, the little pale Irish kid. lol. Well, I just wanted to say "hi" to you and to your family and "thanks for everything." God bless.
