Carlos, every year we remember you.

I had the priviledge of working with Carlos for a few years at The E&F/Walsh Construction Company. Carlos was the consumate gentleman and a polished professional in the rough business of large commercial construction. He always dressed in a business suit and had a smile from ear to ear. He was very proud of his family and enjoyed most being a father. He stood straight, had a firm handshake and always spoke while looking yu straight in the eyes. He was a professional to be admired and respected. I know that he perished that day trying to help others. That was his character.

You will never be forgotten.

Although I knew no one who perished in the 9/11 terrorist attach on our WTC, I mourned each one deeply. Just this morning, Dec. 24th., 2008, my son and I were taking about it. Indeed, it is a day that shall live in infamy, and we all have much to be thankful for that more weren't killed. A dear friend and airline crewmember had gone to the airport just that morning and was sent home because she wasn't needed on one of the flights that hit the WTC. Another, who worked on the 49th floor, was on maternity leave. I am saddened to read about Carlos, but he is a man that I am sure I would have respected and loved.

We worked with Carlos and remember he walked around with a laptop with his family's picture. He was always very proud of his son. He always drank diet coke and was very respectful. We will never forget him.

I can not thank everyone enough for all the hard work with this project. Carlos Cortes was more than a brother-in law... he was a man of special gifts who just gave of himself over and over. May the rest of my life (what remainds of it) be just 1/10th of his and I will go to my rest happy. Carlos, Julie and I always put you in our thoughts.

All my Love,
Your Brother, George Peter Sears

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.

Thank you for your understanding in these matters.
