Dear Mrs. Salter:

Sometime ago you had delivered the flag of honor to the Weirton City building in honor of your daughter Catherine. I have tried to reach you by phone and the number I have is disconnected. We have kept the flag at the City of Weirton for quite sometime trying to think of something special to do in memory of your daughter. On Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 5:00 p.m.they are having services at the Brooke-Hancock site on Main Street in Weirton. We have had the flag framed and would like to keep it safe at the Weirton City Building in Council Chambers. Mayor Kondik will have the flag with him on site to honor your daughter. If at all possible we would like for you to be in attendance, I know this is probably the wrong site to send this e-mail, but I am having difficulty in locating you to invite you to these services...

Although I never knew her, Catherine Patricia Salter will always be in my thoughts and prayers. Her first cousin, Theresa, married my brother, George. I believe Americans were all touched by the events of September 11th, either by directly knowing someone or by knowing of someone who was hurt or killed. The events of that day will never leave us, and we will always remember those who lost their lives, helped to save people, or who were hurt. May God have those people in his prayers forever and always.

You are remembered and missed by your home town of Wellsville, Ohio.

Cathy was the fourth of my six children. She had three sisters and two brothers. All of my memories of Cathy burst the seams of my heart. She was funny, she was energetic, she was kind, she could almost sense a person's feelings and at once be in tune with that person. She had an uncanny way of knowing when a person needed a shoulder to cry on, someone to talk to, and someone to laugh with. She could make you feel at ease without you even knowing that was what she was doing. She had a smile that would take your breath away. She had style - she had wit - she was smart - but she never knew she was all of these things.

She went out into the world to fulfill her dreams. One of them was moving to New York City. I miss her terribly. The world is much diminished by her passing. Thank you from the bottom of a mother's broken heart.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.

Thank you for your understanding in these matters.
