Rest In Peace, Chris. You are thought of often and won't ever be forgotten. I couldn't find anything negative to say about you if I tried. And not enough good can be said. You're a testament to your loving parents and siblings. You epitomized what it meant to live every day to its fullest and what it is to be good natured, real to others and true yourself. All those qualities are seldom found together. God knew it as well as, if not better than I did because he wanted you with Him early.

Chris was the happiest and most respectful 5th grader in my class that year. He is always in my mind, heart, and prayers. God love and bless all the Kirby family members

Remembering this day and remembering Chris's huge smile and the way he could get away with just about anything because of his flirtatious style. I had him my first year teaching as a student, and I will never forget him and that crew. What a bunch they were! I wish students were like that now-a-days. What a great kid and great family!

Chris would bend over backwards for anyone he loved and even strangers. He was a gentlemen and a real hero. His laugh could make anyone smile. We were close friends for a while and roommates. We knew each other well and I am sorry to grow up with out him in my life. I hope that he is proud of me and all that I do and I hope he knows I take advantage of everyday because of him. He is my inspiration to make the most of everyday because that is the kind of man he was. He is my inspiration. I miss laughing with you Kirby. Thank God for you!

Words can't even begin to describe what an AMAZING person Chris was.  I've known him practically my entire life, our families were close in age and we all grew up together.  Whenever I hear Chris' name I automatically picture his beautiful smile.  He had the widest and brightest smile and eyes out of anyone I have ever known.  On 9/11/01, I was sitting in class when I heard the news.  I lived in New York so I already knew there would be SOMEONE I knew in that tragedy but I never imagined Chris.  The next day, his brother wasn't in school but I didn't think anything of it until I heard from a friend Chris was missing.  We all were so hopeful he would come home and everything would be ok, but days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months, still no Chris.  On that day, the world lost a great guy in Chris.  A guy who could make the darkest days seem bright and no matter what you were going through, he could make you smile.  I, for one, cherish the memories I have of Chris.  Over 2 years has passed and we still miss him tremendously.  Not a day goes by when I do not think of Chris and everything he meant to so many people.  He was the ultimate prankster and all around great guy.  Chris- I never got to tell you what you meant to me...I didn't even realize how much I cared about you until after you were already gone and for that, I am deeply sorry.  But I know you're in heaven looking down on all of us and helping us through these days without you. I love you Chris Michael Kirby and will never forget you!! Anyone who knew you can agree with me when I say, you are impossible to forget- the smile, the eyes, the infectious laugh- All qualities that made you INCREDIBLE! Forever young man!

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.
