Much love and "aloha" to Christine and her family and loved ones. We went to school together and graduated in the class of 1987. I remember first seeing that someone I knew was taken on 9/11, and it made a horrible world event become very real to my life. I remember her at school: She was always smiling; she was a just a beauty! I am so sorry that she was taken away from all those who knew and loved her. Blessings and love to you all. I'm sure you all still miss her more than any of us can know....

Hey, Christine Snyder (Woody da wabbit),

I miss you, girl, and all the fun great times we shared together. Not a day goes by without me thinking of you and all the fun times we had together. I am planning big things to keep your memory alive, and I know you're somewhere enjoying yourself and smiling with us. Keep your light on, and I will keep mine on shining forever.

Love always,

Dear Christine,

Today in my philosophy class at Honolulu Community college, we watched a video about Flight 93, and I heard you were an alumna. Hearing the story made me tear up. You guys will be remembered forever. Rest in peace. Aloha.

I met you a few weeks prior to 9/11 while you were purchasing painter's pants in my paint store in Honolulu for your two brothers and your dad. God bless you and your family. It was nice to have met you. I thought it was so cool that you thought of them, and you told me it was a surprise for them. I am proud to have met you. God bless your husband and family and your brothers and your dad whom I knew personally.

Today is September 10, 2010. It's been nine years ... and the big, awful hurt has softened ... but each year ... in the days surrounding 9/11, the deep loss comes to the surface. You are missed, dear one. We'll gather the Hawaii family tomorrow and head to Magic Island — to your bench — and I know you'll join us there and spread your magic.

I think of you often, and still can't believe you are gone. As with all who knew you, my heart hurts when I think about you. You were very special to so many. Your family misses you like you wouldn't believe, but I'm sure, at some level, you know that. You have a new nephew, and if you could watch over him like you have the rest of us, I would appreciate that.
It is an absolute privilege and honor to call you my sister! We miss you and will never forget you.

Love, Tommy

Dear Ian and Mr. and Mrs. Snyder,

Christine and I served together on OMPO [Oahu Metropolitian Planning Org] Citizens Advisory Committee [CAC].

She and I lived together as Neighbors in Kailua.

My daughter also attended Kalaheo.

My heart tells me that it wasn't just men that fought back on United 93. I bet Christine was in there planning on how to fight as well.

Right after 9/11 we put up our own local Oahu based memorial as well on Yahoo! The URL is =

There you can find HotLINKS to the Tree Education Foundation and Outdoor Circle.

God Bless Her Mon Dad and Ian
Hope to meet you here on Oahu one day!

I miss you, and I'll never forget our parties with Chris in NY.

I never knew Christine, but today when I was riding my off-road motorcycle on the North Shore of Oahu, my wife and I met a guy, and he showed us around all the trails at Kahuku. When we stopped and took a break, we were all sitting there talking, and I was looking at his helmet and noticed he had a sticker on his helmet that said, "In Loving Memory, Christine Snyder, flight 93." So I asked him if he knew someone on flight 93, and he said, "Yes, Christine Snyder was my wife." His name is Ian, and he was one of the nicest people you would ever hope to have met. My heart broke when he told me that. I didn't know what to say except how sorry I was for his loss. Our prayers are with all of you affected by this tragedy.

I met Christine when we lived in the same Kailua townhouses in 1980. She was one of the beautiful children who lived and played there. I would have seen her in October of 2001 when I returned to Hawaii for a wedding that involved her family. I am proud of what I know she was becoming, and I know that people who knew her, loved her. I wish I could have had the chance to know her as an adult. May God bless.

It is very encouraging to know that someone with my name was one of the brave.

It is hard to believe that 6 years have gone by.... It seems like yesterday we were all at the beach. I hold those memories dear to my heart, telling my children of the wonderful times I shared with Chris and all the other surfer-watching girls.... We were a riot! Chris is with us every day.... Hugging a tree has a whole new meaning!
To her family, I can't tell you how sorry I am.... Thank you for sharing your beautiful Christine with the world....

I just watched Flight 93 and was reminded that Christine Snyder died on 9/11. I remember how startling it was to see MY name listed (my maiden name). It was too painful to find out more at the time but almost 6 years later I am comforted to know that Christine seemed to have lived a good life. From what I read, she was passionate about her environmental efforts and left a legacy in her native Hawaii. God Bless Christine Snyder and all the other heroes of 9/11.

A living memorial to Christine has been planted on the Kalaheo High School campus from which she graduated in 1987.  As befits a passionate arborist, the tree is a golden shower which bloomed gloriously last spring.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
