First off Christopher was a out standing person although I did not know him. As a Fire fighter with Brigton Fire Rescue in Brighton Co I know his pasion was to help those in need. To keep a long story short I participated in a Memorial stair climb in Denver Co. The climb is limited to 343 FFs. Each FF carries a picture of a FDNY member that was taken from all of us. We climb the building twice to equal the 110 stories of the Trade center buildings. It was an honor to climb the 110 flights today Sept. 11, 2011 for all the family Members of Christopher.
Thank You and Sorry for your loss.

I never really met Christopher Santora, but his sister was my 4th grade teacher. I remember after everything had happen days later she came to the class and showed us a page from the newspaper with a picture of a fire fighter with the name of Christopher A. Santora and she turned and said to us " this is my brother and he passed away during the world trade center" I was only 9 but I was so sad to hear that she had lost one of her loved ones. Thank you Christopher for being brave and risking your own life to save the lives of other, you are most certainly a HERO!My thoughts and prayers go to you and your family.

I often walk by the Firehouse that Chris served so proudly: Engine 54, Ladder 4, Battalion 9 in the Theatre District. I am a working actor and teacher, and I was on my way to teach public school in Newark on 9/11. On one of the firetrucks, I believe, are the words "Never Missed a Performance." How appropriate for Chris.
I never knew Chris; however, I attended his memorial mass at St. Rita's Catholic Church. At the time Mayor Gulliani was encouraging the public to attend these services, so I hopped a train out to Long Island City, and I remember sitting in the pews and being moved by his sacrifice and the struggles of his family. I still have a copy of the memorial book I received, and I keep it on my bookcase with other pictures from those sad days.
Today I teach children who were not even born when Chris died. Where has the time gone? I feel it is our obligation to pass on the stories of Chris and the other brave firefighters to the next generation, so our children will understand what happened that day. Books and the media can only tell us so much.
While Chris's story is tragic, it is also uplifting and spiritually powerful, and it can inspire people of all ages. He teaches us to live each day fully, not to squander our days, and to love our fellow human beings. Whenever I feel things are not going so well, I think of this young man, and I am immediately brought to a place of strength.
Sincerely,

While visiting NY for the first time this week, my wife and two teenage daughters met Christopher's parents, Al and Maureen, during a ground-zero tour. It was an overwhelming experience hearing them both describing the horror of that day. I can ONLY imagine what they both had to go through and are still coping with today as a result of that day. Our family's thoughts and prayers will always be with Al and Maureen and their son Christopher. God bless you all.

A year ago, on Sunday 23rd November 2008, Mr and Mrs Santora guided us around the site of Ground Zero. What you told us that day will stay with me for the rest of my life. I'm still thinking of you and your family. I just wanted to let you know that you will always be in my prayers.

I was eating with some students at a Peruvian restaurant named "Urabamba" after a field trip to Citifield. Although I was hesitant to join the students for dinner, I saw the event as not only a cultural experience, but also a chance to build camaraderie among my Senior Executive Board. While eating, I looked out the window and could not believe what I saw: "FF Christopher A. Santora" school. Wow! He has a school named after him! He certainly was a "Bayside HS success story," a phrase he made among myself and another former classmate in Dinosaur class in Queens College. The last time I saw him, he was studying for his FF entrance exam in the QC library. We shared a special bond because we were the same height, and we loved hip hop and basketball. I'm happy he made a life out for himself that will be remembered for a long, long time.

I never met Christopher, but my grandparents have known the Santoras for a long time. I found that we were related and felt a connection with them. The pain they must feel for having to give up a son at such a young age! My brother is also Christopher, and he is now serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is now overseas and fighting for his lost brother. My family and I will never forget this day, and the Santora family will always be in our hearts. I met the Santora family for the first time at our family reunion in New York in 2002.

We met Christopher's parents, Al and Maureen, this past weekend and suddenly we have a bond to the horrors of 9/11. The Santoras are a remarkable couple and their heroic son's legacy will forever be etched into my being.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
