I knew Danny my entire life. We grew up literally across the street from each other. We hung out together in our teens. I attended his wedding to my friend, Debbie. It was a blast. And even though we'd lost touch over the years, what with his and Debbie's moving to "upstate" NY and my moving to PA, I still considered him a good friend. I still miss him. Love you, Dan.

I was lucky enough to have met DANNY. He was a great guy. I knew Danny through his brother, Bobby. We will never forget the sacrifice that you and your brothers made on 9-11. May you rest in peace.

After 9-11 I purchased a "memorial" bracelet. When it came, it had the name of Daniel Harlin on it. Even though I was never lucky enough to meet him, I wear it proudly every year on 9-11. God bless his family.

I knew Dan from friends and through his cousins Jeff and Jim. Most of the family were and still are firefighters.
Dan loved his work. He loved helping others. He followed his family path, a firefighter. Man, what a rough job! I was a soldier; he chose firefighting; so we connected hardships, feelings, and the like. But he had a heart made of gold. He was willing to help anyone, no matter what. If you were down to your last penny and were hungry, he would give you his last dollar. Unfortunately, I didn't get to know him too well, but from my brief friendship with him, he's somebody you can call a brother,

To me, being a former soldier, the best compliment anybody could give you is, "I will go to war with you, and I'll watch your back." I said it to Dan before. I just wish I was there. God bless him. And thanks. Thanks for making us realize how precious we are. In my eyes are tears of losing a good friend, also losing a good person. We seem to lose the good ones instead of the bad.

If it was up to me, I'd give him the medal of honor for his acts of unselfishness, and just, well, being himself. Well, he deserves it. Actually, I feel all who gave their all in 911 deserve the medal. It's the least this country could do to show their thanks. Dan Harlin, a true friend, I'll pop a top for you. God bless!

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.
