My dad, Cortez R. Moore, loved you like a son. And he is so proud of you of what you accomplished in your too short life. You will always be remembered.

I had known you since you were a kid on Manor Avenue. I still think about you. I know you're in a much better place, watching over your loved ones. God bless you.

An incredible sad day - that I hope no one ever forgets - the many people that lost their lives and their families - that lost a big part of their lives. I'm so sorry and saddened to hear that you lost your friend - Darryl, Beverlee. :(

My thoughts and prayers go out to you - and Darry's family - and the many others who have broken hearts and those that lost friends and family members.

Pop, you are dearly missed and never forgotten. I always had fun when we hung out. From time to time, I think about how much you did in such a short time. ONE LOVE!

Hello to Darryl's family: I posted last year on Darryl's memorial on the Cantor family's website. I just want you to know that I still wear the bracelet with Darryl's name on it, and especially today may he not be forgotten. May you find peace on this 8th anniversary of the horrible tragedy that took Darryl, FAR too soon. Thank you for all you've done to keep Darryl's memory alive.

I just found out about you on Facebook. I remember being in history, English, phys ed, and biology classes with you back in ninth grade, and I remember how smart you were, always correcting the teachers. I just read about this when I saw your picture on Facebook with an R.I.P. next to your name. I was floored. If anyone was supposed to be successful, it was supposed to be you. You were a good person. I know you are up there with God and some of the rest of our fallen classmates. I will never forget.

I will NEVER forget that day.... It lives in ME.

Just to let you all know, I am from Iowa, and we had a field of flags with victims' names. I happened to get Darryl's. I have placed his flag and some candles burning outside our home. I WILL NOT FORGET!

It's been 7 long years since the 09/11 tragedy and I am just finding the courage to search the internet to find some information about Pop. I went to school with Pop and was saddened and shocked to learn that he was an unfortunate victim of the attacks on our nation.

I learned through this site that a memorial is held in his honor at Rosedale Park. I am not sure if the tradition remains the same this year, but either way, I'm going to stop by the park this evening to pay my respects!

Much love to his family and friends. I pray that you find the support to live each day in his memory.

Its the time of year that is dreaded, and the memory of why a good person isn't here on earth any longer is imbedded into our consciousness every 9/11. Tomorrow marks that day. Each year we have a memorial for Darryl McKinney at Rosedale Park in the Bronx, New York, starting at 6pm. For those who knew and want to feel Darryl's (Pop, as he was affectionately called) spirit, you are welcome. I pass on my prayers to those who lost a loved one, family member, or friend in this horrific tragedy on September 11, 2001, and I pray for peace in your life or lives. God Bless...

First I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this web site, also for all your prayers and comfort at our family's darkest time. I go through different web sites whenever I feel overwhelmed by the thought that my son is truly gone. I miss his laughter, his jokes, talking to him every day, holding him. When I read different comments about him, it brings me joy, and I am able to go on for another day. I try my best to continue in a manner that my son would be proud of. I never want to let him down; he never let our family down. He inspires all of us each and every day. I thank GOD for being his mother.

Wow, where do I begin? Pop was my dude. He was like a brother. Me and Ed Duncan started the 911 Memorial which takes place every 9/11 located at Rosedale Park in the Bronx, New York near where he resided. Actually, they named the park after him, so we hope to see more people come out each year. I initiated the wristband campaign with his name on it that has become sort of a phenom right now. We still have people asking for them to this day. This 9/11/06 we hope to have dogtags or keychains in his memory at the service. For all those who are looking at the site this time of year, please try to come through. If you need any information I can be contacted at syedean13@aol.com. Continued Blessings to all and remember Pop is still here in spirit, can you feel him? Because I can everyday. God Bless...

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
