I got your name last year for the 9/11 mass, and since then you and your family have been in my prayers. <3

It's strange seeing that name there, knowing it easily could be any one of us. No one knows what the future holds. It makes us wonder, Are we making our days count? Are we telling our family and friends we love them? Are we forgiving those who have hurt us in the past? Are we doing all we can to help out those around us, even if all we can do is pray? Are we making time to find out what it really means to be grateful for life, what it means to love one another? I know we all have a purpose here in life, but are we striving to find it, or are we just settling? If you believe, are you living like you do—or are you just going with the flow? Let me know what you think at twohhs1wn (at) hotmail (dot) com. I find this surprising. My name is David Vera, too.

When 9/11 happened, I was in the 6th grade at science camp. They didn't tell us until the end of the week. We had no idea what had really happened until we got home and watched video footage of the hijacked planes crashing into the twin towers. When we returned to school the next week, we had the opportunity to write letters to different companies that worked in the WTC and that had lost countless workers. I wrote my letter to Euro Brothers, Inc., and weeks later I received a box in the mail. I opened it up and there was a silver bracelet. It said, "DAVID VERA, WTC." I didn't know who he was, but I felt that his legacy somehow lived through me. I went online and learned more about him and how he loved playing basketball on the weekends. It was interesting because I'm the same way. I wear the bracelet as often as possible but in particularly on 9/11 in remembrance of David and all those who died in the attacks that day. God bless the families whose dear loved ones passed away that day.

Mr. Vera,
It's been a little over four years now but it feels like it was yesterday. And I get so angry and frustated because I can't do anything about it. How can we just rewind time and make it not happen? Then I learned about you. I chose you to be in my daily prayers and it's the only thing I can think of, to help ease the pain, mine, yours, Jennica's, Sandy's. To cope with this unbelievable and terrible ordeal. For one thing, it's helped me never to take things for granted. The other day, I read a message your daughter Jennica wrote you on your birthday, a while back. She misses you so much! I saw her picture with you and I read about your relationship, and I pray that she's ok. Contrary to what it seems, you can be sure the world is filled with wonderful people and Jennica certainly has some of these people beside her. So, wherever you are don't be sad and try not to worry so much, ok? And I wanna tell her, that I'll never stop praying for you, I'll never forget any of you. And if she ever needs anything, she can count on me. I didn't have the privilege of knowing you in this life, but one day, we'll all be where you are now, and, if I'm allowed, I'll make sure to meet you someday. God bless you.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.
