I wear a bracelet with Donald A Delapenha W.T.C. on it to "Remember" him personally. I was not able to obtain biographical information back in 2001 and I was inspired to check the web by CSI N.Y. program on September 23, 2011. I wore my bracelet to my church service on 9/11/11 and my five year old granddaughter was so interested in the story behind it. May that story live on. Blessings to his family, Beth.

Donny was a fraternity brother of mine at Baldwin-Wallace College. He was a senior when I was a freshman and he was also President of the fraternity. Even though he was older than I was and President of the fraternity (plus a phenomenal offensive guard for the Yellow Jacket football team-think he was an Academic All American), he treated me w respect and kindness. He was one of the best men on campus. He was the epitome of a true leader. I never saw Donny after he graduated in the Spring of 1985 but I still think of him often. I try to model my life after the way in which Donny carried himself in college. Our thoughts and prayers remain w Donny and his wonderful family everyday.

Today is 9/11, and every year, for the past nine years, I stop and think of you and your family. I know you are at peace, but you are still sorely missed by the people who loved you.

Don, We will never forget. I don't think anyone can still grasp what occurred on that day. I only hope your family can find some sense of peace in knowing so many people care about what happened to you and so many others on that fateful day.

Don was a good guy. He coached his daughter’s soccer team. We used to exchange different drills that we would use to encourage dribbling and passing skills. A couple of our children were the same age.
Don would call me a couple times a week. We’d talk about the markets, our kids, and current events. Don sold corporate and agency bonds to banks for his employer, Keefe Bruyette and Woods. He probably would have been as surprised as the rest of us at Fan and Fred’s demise.
I’ll never forget Don--an ordinary guy doing a decent job. Nor should we ever forget the 3000 others just like him.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.
Thank you for your understanding in these matters.
