I have been praying for your family since 9/12 when a friend of yours came into a Logos Christian bookstore in Portland, Maine, to buy a book to help with your grief. She shared the names of your family members with me and we prayed quietly for you that day. May the Lord be especially close to all of you this weekend. Your names remain on a small blue post-it note on my office wall, so prayers for you will continue.

It breaks my heart to know that you would have been the pilot for Flight 93 had it not crashed. You were in the revolt, and you nearly took over the plane. YOU ARE AN AMERICAN HERO.

God bless,

My husband and I live in Del Mar, California. In 1980, we bought our current home from Don and Charlotte Greene. At the time, the real estate market was "hot" and many people were bidding for this home. Don noted that we had a Golden Retriever (as did he), and he decided to sell his home to us. We were able to take care of his Golden when the Greene's were still in California but traveling about.

Don and Charlotte moved back East after leaving California. From 1980-1985 we were in close contact. This was before the Internet. As time went by we lost contact. We just remodeled our kitchen, and my husband and I thought that we would love to share pictures with Don. I went on the Internet to do a search to see if we could re-connect. That is when I learned of Don's tragic, and heroic, death. We vaguely remember hearing about a Donald Greene on Flight 93, but I guess you never want to believe that someone you loved could be "that" Donald Greene.

We would very much like to honor his memory in our home. If possible, we would like to share the wonderful memories we have of Don with his family.

Don had a zest for life. One time in NY he got access to a "Baby Benz" and he packed 6 people in this little car and toured us around Manhattan. He had a way of bringing energy to a room by his mere presence.

If his family would like to visit the home that Don lived in while he was in California, please contact us!

With much Love,
The Simon's

God bless you and your family, Debbie. Your cousin was a true hero. He and the other brave passangers of that flight will never be forgotten. My prayers are with all of the families of the passengers and crew who took action against those monsters.

Donald was my first cousin. my mother and his mother were sisters. I was working at a school yesterday with school children, and got them on the web and helped them read about him, when a child found something I didn't know existed on the internet, I went to the site, and I'm now listening to Donald's son Charlie talk about his father.. I have wonderful childhood memories of Donnie, as he was affectionately called, and some adult memories when I lived in Denver in the 1970's .. Donnie was a terrific man, and a loving brother, uncle and most of all husband and father.. He is missed by many people, and I wish more people could have known him. He died a hero, the only one able to save Flight 93, after the pilots were killed. Donnie was able to fly. I know in my heart he was instrumental in trying to take over the plane...

I think about you daily Donnie, and your family, and I know you did not die in vain, your loving cousin debbie

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.

Thank you for your understanding in these matters.
