God bless you, Doug, and your beautiful family, too.... I know you are watching over them. You are all in our thoughts and prayers — especially on this sad day. Today in your honor I'm doing "March to the Arch," a 21-mile walk to the St. Louis Arch, and I'll be carrying your picture.... God bless!

You are still remembered, Doug. My heart goes out to all who knew you -- and specifically your wife and your daughters.

I did not know Doug, but I recently had his oldest daughter in one of my art classes. I noticed a memorial tattoo on her wrist and asked if she had lost someone in 911. The initials were DMC, and she told me that it was her father. She is a bright, kind, and friendly girl, who was a pleasure to have in class. She clearly still struggles with this loss every day. May her father's spirit heal her of her pain eventually, and may he know what a wonderful girl his daughter is growing up to be.

Doug,

I heard you talking to Kevin Cosgrove just before you both entered heaven, and my heart was broken at the waste of your young lives. I will always remember you in my prayers, and I hope you will think of me as well.

May god bless you.

I never met Doug nor knew anything of him. But I wear the same last name on the right side of my uniform and carry it on every morning I roll out to a different city town or camp all over Iraq. Rest in peace.

I worked with Doug at A&A. I think of him often. He was a bright, charming young man.

Just heard the call. My sincere and deep memories for Kevin Cosgrove and Doug Cherry and his families. Nobody deserves anything like this and the world is awakening to never happen again. Good and brave men have now returned to the stars. The awake minds are committed with the truth. God bless, and all other human beings.

Last night I watched a 9-1-1 call with Kevin Cosgrove and Doug Cherry. My heart is broken, and the tears will not subside—not only for those two, but also for all the brave men and women who will no longer celebrate a birthday as I do today. My birthday will be forever changed: I live and die on the same day forever more. My heart goes out to all families of 9-11.

God bless you.

I heard your name and your voice on the 9-1-1 tape of Kevin Cosgrove's, and I wanted to pay my respects to you and your loved ones. I have cried a river of tears over the suffering that you, Kevin, and so many others experienced on that terrible day. All I can think about is how scared you must have been in that office and how brave all of you were. My only solace is that you are in peace NOW and that our heavenly father is with you. Your memory will forever live in all of our hearts and souls and in this way so shall you.... Eternal peace to you, sir.

My heart and prayers go out to Mr. Douglas Cherry and all of his family and friends, and all of his co-workers who died with him on 9-11-2001. We will never forget. I also just heard that last phone call by Mr. Kevin Cosgrove to the 911 operator. God bless them all.

May you forever rest in peace. I will never forget the day when this happened.

The phone call with Kevin Michael Cosgrove broke my heart. As soon as I knew who had suffered with him, I had to pay my respects. You've inspired me not to take life for granted and that life is precious. You have been the push to keep me going and live every day to its full, and for that I thank you. Rest in peace.

Still to this day, you are remembered.

Like at Pearl Harbor, the people who lost their lives at the WTC will always be remembered, whether known personally to us or not. Such tragedy.

I just heard his colleagues last call - so upsetting. May God bless his soul. My condolences.

Sorry to his family. He was brave. It just makes me realize how precious life is.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
