Our family prayed together today and thanked our Beloved God for Durell. Our dear boy will never be forgotten by the "family" in Canada. Our hearts go out to his family and friends on this 10th anniversary.

Sincerely,

Patricia Pearsall

As childhood and high school friends, I had the privilige of learning that your kindness was incredibly genuine - that people like you were few and far between and that although your life was at times painful and challenging, you lived it well - with grace, a loving heart and joy. I think of you often and am so very proud of you, Bronk. Love you....

Miss you, Bronko. Always in our thoughts. Always a part of our lives.

Dear Durell,

We join with all those who love you and loved the others who died on 9/11 to think of all those who have died over the years since then to defend our freedom. We will not forget you, Durell. Thank you for your sacrifice for us.

Missing you, Bronko, nine years on. You're in our prayers.

Bronko,
We were up at Hunter and we had so much fun.  I didn't know it was the last time we would hang out together. The last time all of us would laugh, hug and be friends.

Bronk, to this day you are truly missed. You were like a son to us here at the park. We will never forget you.

God bless you, Durrell. You were a strong and loyal friend and classmate at LuHi, and you were the same sort of firefighter. I think of you often. My family and I saw a 9-11 memorial in the middle of Ireland on which your name and the names of your fellow firefighters and police officers were etched. You are a hero and you are remembered.

God bless you for your heroism dear Durrell. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten. Perhaps we will meet on that distant shore where love abounds, all tears will be wiped away, where the things of this dreary world will pass. May your example bless others and remind us that we need heroes. May we be blessed to remember we all need to stand for righteousness.

You are missed every day, and still so much reminds me of you and your beautiful smile and great personality! So many great memories that will live in my heart and my mind. Every trip to NYC is a dedication to you! See you in April. St Patrick's Cathedral is still our place!

It's February 4th, 2010. We just want to say we remember Durrell and all the other brave hearts who gave their lives for us on September 11. May we commemorate their lives in our hearts throughout the year by never forgetting the price they paid to save others. May freedom ring.

Bronko and I were close, good friends while we both attended our first year of college together at Marist. He lived in the same dorm as me, and he was a frequent visitor to my dorm room, as we were both from Long Island. He used to talk about two things, football and firemen. He was such a character and was greatly loved by all for the short time he was at Marist. After he left Marist, I used to run into him at various bars and clubs for many years. He always gave me a big hug, and we would reminisce about our short-lived memories together. When I heard he was killed on 9/11, I was so deeply, deeply saddened but not really surprised. He was truly doing what he loved and what he was destined to do. I always, always remember him on this day and the memories that we shared.

Dear Durrell,

Since finding you, I have not stopped remembering your heroism and have been blessed to know a little bit about you through the comments on this memorial site. I am a Canadian and many in our country stand along side our American brothers and sisters in their sorrow this remembrance day. May we all be humbled and changed by the acts of the heroes of 9/11 and reminded how precious is our freedom. We will not forget dear Durrell. Thank You.

Patricia

Dear Durrell,

Not a year goes by now that I ever forget what happened on that beautiful September morning. As soon as I feel my heart closing itself off to others, I remind myself of what happened that day, and more importantly of the heroes, like you, who gave it their all to help those who were suffering. Mom and I thank you with our hearts for the sacrifice you made that day.

Love,
Andrea and Patricia

Durrel,

Nothing is by coincidence. Just found your sweet memorial while searching out the name Pearsall. Our Pearsall family crest says, "Death Before Shame," too. Whether you are a part of the family tree or not, you lived up to the motto and brought pride to those who knew you, who love you. I am touched and wish I had known you, dear Durrell, dear hero.

Love,
Patricia

Happy St Patty's Day, Durrell!

I know this is like your Christmas day. The drums will be one beat lower because you won't be there. The sky seems less bright, although it's full of sun, and we all will be less drunk because you won't be here to hoist a pint with us.

Bronko and I went to Lu-Hi together in the 80's. He was a great friend to the people that knew him. I knew him then. He was from Hempstead, NY. He died a hero to every New Yorker. May his family find peace.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
