Mr. Luckett was my best friend's dad. I never really knew him, because Billy and I were 3 or 4 at the time. Mrs. Luckett said he was an amazing man! He loved everyone, and everyone loved him! I saw my best friend cry when 9/11 happened. There were pictures of him with oreos in front of his eyes, with Billy on his shoulders. Mr. Luckett was my dad's best friend. My whole family was crying that day, too. We could see New York from my back yard, and we saw the smoke go up. Please, Mr. Luckett I hope you watch us from above and are very proud of us. We all love you and miss you. I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to really know you!

Ted was a former coworker of mine with the Pitney Bowes Company from 1985 through 1987. He was on the same sales team as me. Ted was a fun-loving, passionate guy, who had a zest for life. He loved having fun with doing his imitations of other people who appealed to his sense of humor. Ted, your laughter will be missed.

Clearing out some things I came across an old calendar (1989) that had the notation, "Party @ Ted's." It brought back great memories of Ted (although I will always think of him as "Teddy"), and I couldn't bring myself to throw the calendar away. We knew each other through Junior Sailing and as sailing instructors. The world lost a great light when Ted left it.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Ted's passing today. We were classmates and friends briefly at MHS. I remember him as sweet, handsome, funny, and a great soccer player whom I would have liked to get to know better. Although we lost touch after high school, I have often thought of him and want to wish his family my deepest condolences.

Teddy Luckett--just saying your name brings laughter and tears. Thank you for all of the fun summers together at LYC. Growing up with the freedom that we had then was such a luxury, and we took it for granted. For anyone who never had the benefit of knowing Ted, he was one of the "good guys." Someone who liked to laugh but not at the expense of others. He was welcoming and enjoyed people. I'm sorry to say that we drifted as our lives grew apart and took me to Rhode Island, but I thought of Ted often and talked about him when my kids would ask about what I did for my summers, or if you can have a friend who is a guy. I am still brought to tears when I think of Ted but tell myself that he's in a better place with other "good guys" like him.
Miss you Teddy,
Lisa

Just thinking it's 6 years today since we lost 3000 people.
Although I didn't know Ted, he was born the same year as I and we share the same surname but lived in different parts of the world, being a contemporary I feel we grew up with similar expectations and aspirations. I know ours is quite a rare name so who knows back in the echelons of time we may even be related!
Just a note to let his family know that he won't be forgotten.

I never knew Ted. More accurately I knew of him. We attended Mamaroneck High Schoool together although we were separated by by one year in graduation.
I knew Ted as an accomplished soccer player for MHS who was an impact player in making MHS one of Westchester's best programs.
I have sought Ted out today, having been connected to him again by virtue of being nominated for induction into MHS's Hall of Fame together.
I searched the internet and found poems written of Ted from people who never knew him and from those who did, described a man I would aspire to be for the rest of my life.
I never knew who you were but I now know what you became. Even in death, it is possible to influence and guide others. Thank you, Ted.
My well wishes to your family. I will think of you often now as I aspire to the example you have forged in life.
Respectfully,

My brother Ted...
To put it simply, he was everyone's best friend. Anyone who ever spent time with Ted knew how he could take any situation and make it hilarious. He was also blessed with charm and graciousness. He filled every room with sunshine and laughter. Wherever Ted was, a crowd of people gathered.
All of my life I looked up to Ted and admired him so much. When I was an awkward teenager with braces, Ted was the cool older brother with many talents and many friends. Although most older brothers would chase their little sisters away, Ted did not. He welcomed me into his life even though I was obnoxious and full of attitude. He would allow me to torment his girlfriends and have crushes on his buddies. Never did he put me down. I look back now and know what a gift that was.
Ted was also the type of person who made sure that everyone was included. No girl went without a dance partner at ballroom class and no shy person was left to sit alone. As long as Ted was nearby, everyone was made to feel special.
Ted Luckett was my hero. When I hear his name, I feel so lucky to have had him as my brother. Even though he's gone now, I think that I was so blessed to have him as my role model. Ted lived his life the way everyone should. He lived it with courage and offered everyone a part of his heart. From this came hope, peace and happiness.
One day I hope that Ted's children (Jen, Billy & Timmy) will read this and know how special they were to their father. Ted was good at everything, but nothing could compare to what great a father he was. He lived for his children and they were all he talked about. He was so proud of them and thought they were his most precious gift. I know that his last thoughts and final moments were spent thinking about how much he loved his children, for that was my brother Ted.

Ted was my older brother, he is someone that I respected and loved. He was warm, way to kind and extremely funny. I miss him so much. I wish I could talk to him one more time. I miss his children. :(

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site.
