For Mr. Elvin Romero,

I did not know you, but today on the 10th anniversary of your departure among the others who lost their lives, your two children Alex and Gabriella, along with many others spoke out about life 10 years later on CNN. The emotions they expressed showed how much they love you and miss you terribly, even for Alex who was only 2 when you were gone and did not have any memories of his father. Bless your soul and may you watch your family and friends from above.

Dear Elvin,

Eight years ago today you left us in a tragic way. Your lost was felt by many who knew you. You will always remain in our hearts as a fun and loving young man who enjoyed being with his family and was always available to lend a helping hand. We were blessed to know you.

Elvin was one of the most charismatic, loyal, and skilled colleagues and friends I could have wished for. Countless times he did extra work without asking, helping all around him. Completely on his own initiative, he would research for us to make our job easier. Elvin became a good friend, incredibly trusted, funny as well, and now a sad loss to a world that could do with more like him. Thinking of him and his kin today.

9/11 will be a day that is branded in our minds, hearts and spirit - there is no way to let it go - it is now and will always be a part of who we are as a person and as a Nation. I still pray for you Elvin, and I pray for your family to have peace in their life. They will forever miss you and we will forever remember you.

Yo Vin,

It never gets easier. I miss all my friends at Cantor: Chicky, Sean (Shaggy) McNulty, and you most of all. I hope your family is doing their best and hope you can hear me from that better place. I'll never forget.

XOXO Jim Lyons

Yo El, I have to say I miss you terribly and want u to know I LOVE YA. You have been an inspiration to me and to many many others. People say time heals all wounds but I beg to differ. We must be strong and know that God made us a promise to be all together. All I can say is you were more than a cousin to me, you were my Big Brother. Thanks for everything.

Elvin is my cousin and ALWAYS my Brother till the very last breath. I love and miss you to no end. Even now, typing this note, I can't believe you are gone. You have always been such an inspiration to me. I love how you knew so much about all the classic sports cars and cars in general! You had such drive and passion that would just encourage and bless anyone around you, even in the bad times. You truly were a gift from God that he just could not do without. I will ALWAYS remember and promise to never forget the many others! PURA VIDA!

Love,
Cuz'n richie rod.

Yo Vin....5 years have past and not many days go by the I don't think about you. Just 2 weeks after 9/11, you were supposed to be at my wedding, so each anniversary I have, you are in my prayers because you were such a good friend, but also very missed on a day that was special to me. No matter where I am, you're memory will always be with me. Jim Lyons

ELVIN, CHICKY, AND JOE V., YOU ARE ALWAY'S THOUGHT OF BY ME ON THE ANNIVERSARY. The place in my heart grows each year as the loss keeps getting bigger. Your loss is huge but you are remembered in so many places where a memorial appears that I didn't even know about. Until we all meet again friends, i'll alway's remember my friends from Jeffries.

Hello my Name is Christian, and I never had the pleasure of meeting Elvin. But I have heard of his great life. My fathers cousin, a man named John Rodriguez, is Elvins cousin, and my parents had met him and gotten to know his family on more than one occasion. I was told he was a vibrant individual. Someone who loved people and loved his family. I've heard he was a proud puerto rican man who was also proud of how sucessful he became in the business world and with his own family, Elvin was the only person connected to my family who passed on with 9/11/01 and I just wanted to let readers know, that he was such an amazing person, even someone like me who never met him was touched of stories by those who did. God Bless Elvin Romero and his and the Rodriguez Family.

Elvin, we were family through marriage and I'm so glad that we had a chance to share many childhood family moments that bring people closer together.

When I found out you had died in the WTC my heart just broke for you and your family - like my family, I knew your family was a family that was very united and I knew how much your passing would just devistate them.

Your children are so beautiful and I know you will always be watching over them.

With loving thoughts and prayers,
Maira Hernandez-Hoang

ELVIN,

ALTHOUGH I DID'T KNOW YOU VERY WELL I DID KNOW YOUR WIFE DIANE VERY WELL. YOU WERE HER HEART AND SOUL. SHE SPOKE OF YOU EVERYDAY WE WORKED TOGETHER WITH SUCH DEEP LOVE AND ADMIRATION. I REMEMBER HOW SHE WOULD GO CRAZY TO GET YOU SPECIAL RAZORS BECAUSE YOU ONLY LOVED THE BEST. SHE HAD A SPARKLE IN HER EYES EVERY TIME SHE SPOKE OF YOU. I CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE HER SORROW. DIANE WAS AN EXTREMELY WONDERFUL AND LOVING PERSON. FOR HER TO LOVE YOU SO SO VERY MUCH JUST LETS ME KNOW HOW GREAT YOU WERE.I KNOW YOUR WATCHING OVER DIANE, GABBY AND ALEXANDER AND HOPE YOUR FAMILY HAS PEACE TILL YOUR ALL TOGETHER AGAIN.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
