I knew Evan from his second semester at the University of Maine. He was a nice and interesting guy and we had some great times. Evan made a lasting impression on me and I had always hoped we might cross paths again. My neighbors named their son Evan just a couple of months after 9-11 and so I have a frequent reminder of Evan. :-) Kevin Bragdon

My thoughts are with Eleanor (his mother) this day. I remember how proud she was of both her sons

I remember Evan as a little boy who, with his brother Earl, was a dutiful and loving son to his parents, Eleanor and Earl Sr. Heartfelt condolences to his dear and wonderful mother and to the brother he left behind on the occasion of this, the 10th anniversary. With love...

I worked with Evan and read the comments about him being quiet and smart. He was intelligent but he also had a great sense of humor. We had a lot of laughs as he tried to help train me in the world of capital markets. My best to his parents who lost a wonderful son and to all who had the privilege of knowing and remembering Evan.

Evan was my cousin. We never met but I remember his parents and was very saddened to learn of his death.

Evan and I went to school together for many years. Because our homerooms and lockers were situated alphabetically, our lockers were next to each other throughout our high school years. We were polar opposites at the time: he very serious, I was not; he very studious, I was not (thank God I grew up). I can remember my locker not opening one day, and not caring what was in it, I left it locked and just started putting my stuff in his locker, and he let me! For the rest of the year! Thank you Evan for putting up with my nonsense. May you rest in peace, and I hope this day, May 3, 2011 can bring some closure to Evan's family.

I only knew Evan through his father. His father's name is Earl Gillette, and he was a very kind, gentle man. If Earl is still alive, please call me at 678-728-9998.

I went to high school with Evan. We weren't friends, just two quiet people in the class of '79. I remember him as quiet and smart. I remember when I first learned that he died in the World Trade Center attacks. I looked him up in our yearbook. His message under his name reads as follows:
"I don't dread the thought of my own funeral; I just don't want to be around when it happens."
I think he got his wish.... R.I.P., Evan Gillette.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.
Thank you for your understanding in these matters.
