Every time I hear an airplane fly over or hear a fire engine's siren, I think of you.

Uncle Farrell,

I finally found a way to talk to you. I just want to say "thank you" for all the laughs and memories. You must be so proud of Aunt Eileen and Katie, Meghan, and Annie. I really don't know what to say. It just isn't the same without you. You know, 9-11 is a very, very sad day. But 9-12 is the worst, seeing the movies and all the lives taken. There shouldn't have been any lives taken. I saw a bunch of girls once, and there were three girls who looked like Meghan, Katie, and Annie, but I knew it wasn't them because they didn't have smiles. I love you so much, and I wish I could see you now. Good-bye.

Love,
Kevin

You know, I was very confused and very young on that fateful day. I was in kindergarten, and they didn't tell us about it. During the afternoon classes, the teacher was, I don't know ... just angry, sad, distressed. You could see it in her eyes. She let us have nap time and ... I think I heard crying at her desk. I didn't want to look up, though.

That day my mom picked me up from school, and she had on a fake smile. That night, my parents sat me and my sister down and said, "your Uncle Farell died today." I didn't start crying—now, you might get mad at me for that—but I cry now. I just had questions like "How?" or "What happened?" I just sat there not wanting to believe it. I am sorry to say I don't remember my uncle very well, but I hear stories that make me laugh, and then I remember and just break down crying. I don't know what else to say, but I love all of you who lost someone.

It is years later and ... and I still don't know what to say. I didn't really understand that day. Maybe because I was so young, or I just didn't want to believe my uncle was gone. He was always so funny. I didn't cry then, but I am crying now. If there is a family member of a victim reading this, I want to assure you that you are not alone and that these terrorists will be defeated.

May you never be forgotten.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.
