I juat finished watching the 2 hour special on TLC on Heroes of the 88th floor. I must say Frank Martini and Pablo Ortiz working with you side by side. You are both heroes as you saved so many lives that day and did that without hesitation. Your courage and bravery will never be forgotten. May you both rest in peace. I really believe if you had more time that number would have been much higher. You are amazing.

You re a real man, which is very little in our cruel world!Your fate and the fate of Harry Ramos incredibly touched me! I talked about you many people. I DREAM THE MEMORY OF YOU LIVED. I would like to write an article for Russia and that she learned of your Act.
I am so sorry for your familly. I think they are great people.....My soul is torn with grief and pain for you and your familly!
These few lines will never hand over all my admiration and respect for you! But they are SINCERE. May God keep your soul! Always remember you and pray for you! And the Lord bless your wonderful family!  JULIA. (Moscow,Russia)

As a teacher, I am always looking for examples of people who exemplify the best in human nature. I watched a special 9-11 TV program recently-I am sorry that I can not remember the name of the program- about heroes. The TV special included many people who despite the immanent threat of terrible death continued to help others. Two of those heroes highlighted were Francis di Martini and Pablo Ortiz. Their, deliberate, calm courage, and their sacrifice deserve to be remembereed and honored. I will honor them by teaching my students about their superior display of character on that 9-11 day of infamy.

I watched that special on tlc about mr. De martini and mr. Ortiz. In the face of great tragedy and danger these two men disregarded their own lives and headed towards danger instead of safety in hopes of saving more people. The last anyone saw of either of them they were still on the 78th floor trying to free a man stuck in the elevator. Such a great example of heroism. Thank u to both of the families for sharing their stories and letting us all know what are all capable of

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
