Uncle Gary,

It's been more than 6 years since you were taken from us, but it seems like yesterday you were sitting in Grandma's living room with me chewing your ear off. I wish you were here to see me now; you would be so proud of me. Jimmy and I joined the Navy, and you were the biggest inspiration in that. You know we always wanted to be just like you! I miss you so much, not a day goes by where I have to fight back my tears. You will ALWAYS be my hero. I hope one day I can be half the man you are. I love you, and I will see you again one day.

Gary,

Every time a special day arrives I think of you more than ever. Today, your wedding anniversary; tomorrow, Veterans' Day. Gary, I miss you so much. I love you and pray for you every night, Gary. God bless you.

Gary,

I love and miss you very much. I was blessed to have a great friend like you. Gary, you are the most humble man I know. Gary, you taught me a lot, not by what you said, but by what you did. You told me “talk is cheap,” and, Gary, you lived by those words. Gary, I’ll always love and miss you. God bless you, Gary Geidel. See you soon.

Love,
Nick Kriton

Well, today our Red Knights chapter (Chapter 6, Wilmington, NC) had a ride in support of all of our brothers that had died during the 9-11 terrorist attack. Each rider got to pick a deceased firefighter accountability tag to take along during the ride. After picking Gary, I went home and started reading about all the great things he had done. After reading about him yesterday, he reminded me a lot of myself. I was very proud to have chosen Gary to go on this memorial ride. God bless each and every one that gave their lives for all brothers and sisters.

I'm watching your story on Discovery. You were a hero, not just on September 11th but all the days before and after as well. I just want to say thank you to you and your dad and brothers for all they did and do.

GARY WAS MY BEST FRIEND IN THE MARINE CORPS. I REGRET THE FACT THAT WE NEVER KEPT IN TOUCH AFTER OUR TOURS. WE MET IN LAKEHURST NJ. AT RIGGER SCHOOL AND WERE STATIONED IN TUSTIN,
CALIFORNIA  TOGETHER OUR WHOLE TOUR. I STILL RECOUNT THE TALES OF OUR ESCAPADES TO MY FAMILY AND CLOSE FRIENDS....HE WAS LIKE ONE OF MY BROTHERS AND I WILL MISS JUST WONDERING
HOW HE AND HIS FAMILY WERE DOING. I KNEW HE WAS TO BECOME A
FIRE FIGHTER. I WAS PROUD TO CALL HIM MY FRIEND THEN....AND
I AM DEEPLY HONORED TO HAVE KNOWN HIM. I WILL PRAY FOR HIS
WIFE, DAUGHTER AND FAMILY. HE WAS A GREAT MAN.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
