Lopez family, Earlier tonight, I went to a vigil at the University of Delaware. I had a candle and holder in honor of George. Just wanted to let you know that he is not forgotten!

Georgie, blood does not make family, love does. You were best friends with my Uncle Ricky, and you were an Uncle too me. I love you and miss you, and will never forget, when I was a little girl, you would let me stand on your feet and dance around with you.

In 2001 Temple University did a memorial for all the 9-11 victims. I received the name I was to read on a small white piece of paper. It said, "George Lopex, 40, Stroudsburg PA." To this day that little piece of paper has been with me everywhere I go. I never met the family, but he has a special place in my heart. As I write this, that little piece of paper is right in front of me. I hope his family found peace with all that happened, and I want to let them know that he's remembered all the time by one person who never met him but knows in her heart that he had to be special.

You were such a wonderful, giving man. You are missed every day. I will always hold you close to my heart.

such sadness in the world
can't be stopped by such pain
don't forget the one you love
'cause they'll still be there with you
love them though they're gone
don't forget them ever
and they'll love you forever

I still find the world a lot less beautiful since you are gone. I truly know that heaven has one of the best angels. You will always remain in my heart and mind and will always be missed. I can never forget the way you have changed my life as a friend.

My only wish every time the rain falls
Is that you'll remember that I'm still here
Loving you and waiting for your call,
And when the sky begins to clear,
I'll still be waiting, after all.
When sadness becomes monumental,
When only tears can fall,
We cannot look upon you
As an ordinary mortal
Because you had the vision of soul
To share your love with your fellow-beings
In ways that caused appreciation to bloom
To full flower,
To bloom at a timely hour.
You left us living what you
Had lived to become.
A common grief was born.
This grief was not met with scorn.
This grief evoked a massive common emotion
Because sadness became monumental,
Because only tears would fall.

I happened to find this page just searching for memorials of friends lost in the tragedy of 9/11. I wanted to add to George's memorial by telling everyone what a kind person he was in addition to a loving father and husband. I remember his face always smiling ... or singing a tune. Heaven is full of joy with you there. You are remembered often....

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.

Thank you for your understanding in these matters.
