I can remember when I was a little girl being at the firehouse with my dad and gregg, it seemed like we were there everyday doing something, working on a car or cleaning fire trucks or the firehouse. I remember one time they were working on the carburator of a car Gregg was holding it open with a pencil and he slipped and the pencil fell in the carberator and I had such little fingers I was the only one who could get it out, He was going to get me an Ice Cream Sundae cause I could get it for him. Gregg was like another son to my father, (Charlie Bogert) I can see the 2 of them together laughing and having a good time. RIP gregg you are missed by many.

Another year passes but the memories never seem to fade. When running across old friends, your name always seems to play into the conversation. You left behind such a strong impression.

Once again I have to tell a funny story that brings a smile to my face every time it runs through my mind.

It's the late 70's and Gregg and I are hanging at Wayne Fire Company 4 with some of the other guys. It's the middle of the day and my NJ Bell repair van is hidden behind the building. Nothing much was going on at the time so Gregg decides to get up on his soapbox and starts busting my chops about how we're all a bunch of sissy (telephone linemen) and anyone can do our job. So it's decided it's time for pole climbing school and out comes the climbing belt, hard hat and gaffs. We all head out to the only pole in the rear of the firehouse, the one with the siren mounted on it. I throw on the belt and gaffs and climb up the pole, a quick spin around at the top and back down I come. Gregg is at the base and next in line. We get him set up and I start giving a little instruction. Now if you know Gregg, he's not taking any direction from a stupid telephone man. Gregg slowly works his way up the pole getting about 12 feet of the ground. He's accomplished what he wanted, proving that anyone can do my job. What he didn't know was that going up was the easy part, coming down was the real challenge. Gregg spent a good 30 minutes trying to get that first gaff back into the pole where he felt comfortable that he wasn't going to “cutout” and slide down the pole. The final resolution…. A telephone truck parked up against the pole with approximately 4 guys on top picking Gregg off the pole.

Boy I wish we had digital technology at the time. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Gregg, you are missed by many.

Remembering Gregg today, September 11, 2009. We were friends through emergency services in Wayne. Gregg was my predecessor on the Wayne Township Police Desk. When he left to join Port Authority, I was hired to take his place as a dispatcher. He taught me some of the ropes at headquarters, and he always remained a great friend. Whenever I flew home from Colorado to NJ, I would always meet-up with Gregg at Newark Airport during the many years he worked there. After I became disabled, whenever I flew into NJ, he always made sure that I was assisted from the gate to my ride. His friendship and kind heart are truly missed. He'll always be my hero.

Gregg, I think of you often. Not only on 9-11 but through the year. I still laugh to myself when I think about the great times we had back at Company 4 in the 70's. My most memorable one is when a group of us were down at fire school in Seaside and you had to stay back and study for the PD exam. The only problem was that you drove and didn't want us to use your car. So when you dosed off while studying I borrowed your keys and you woke up and saw us getting in your car. Running through the parking lot in your boxers you just weren't fast enough and we got away. Oh but you were waiting for us when we got back. I think I still have the bruises. Your always in my thoughts and prayers my friend

Gregg and I walked to school together for many years, throughout elementary and junior high school. We were neighbors and friends. From the time we we just little kids, Gregg always talked about being in law enforcement. He was a volunteer firefighter in high school and we ended up on different paths and I lost touch with him. It is now seven year since the horrible attacks of 9/11, and to my horror I have just learned that Gregg was lost trying to help others survive. Although a shock, it is not at all surprising that this is what Gregg was doing when he lost his life. God Bless Gregg and his family, and all who serve so selflessly day in and day out. You are truly what makes this country great, and always will be. You will NEVER be forgotten!

I knew Gregg since we were about 12 years old when we went to Anthony Wayne Junior High School together. At Wayne Valley High School we were friends and ran track together. During high school Gregg served the people of Wayne as a volunteer fireman. Often he would leave track practice when the fire sirens sounded to go help people. It's no wonder Gregg became a hero at the WTC on 9/11 helping people out of the building. I will always remember your dedication and ultimate service to helping other people. Thank you.

The pain of 9-11 reaches out to us all. It has been 7 years and feels like yesterday. Our prayers go out to Mr Froehners family and all the 9-11 victims.

I went to school with Gregg from Elementary School through high school. He was a volunteer fire fighter and really enjoyed it. He seemed to like helping others. It has been 6 years since 9/11, and I am saddened by people's short memory, but encouraged by the existence of people like Gregg.

I didn't think I personally knew any victims of 9-11. Last night at our reunion I found out otherwise. He will be missed.

Gregg taught me when I was a "boot" 23 yrs ago how to be a good firefighter...his infamous line was "I forgot more than you'll ever know". I will always remember... seeing him patroling at the WTC Path sta, seeing him driving home from work on Rt 80 & at the Special Olympics events, where he would always chuckle and tell us that maybe next year he'd win that medal.
My brother, forever lost but never forgotten...
