The world needs more people like Harry.

I'm from Portugal, but this guy is a hero anyplace. I was shocked that he was the only one who died from his company that day.

Harry, your humanity makes me believe that I live in a good place. It makes me believe that this world still has good people in it. But it still has bad ones, too.

Posted in honor of a great man, Harry Ramos.

I can't believe that it has been so long. Your bravery and love for your fellow man shone through on that day. God bless.

On September 11th, not a moment goes by that we don't think of Harry and his family. He was a friend and a great father. We look back at the many memories, especially birthday parties he shared with our daughter, Shantel. We will always remember you. We wanted to let you know that your family is always in our thoughts.

With fondest memories,
Jose and Viviane Suncar

It's hard to believe that it has been 8 years. The family and miss you tremendously. We all have the fond memories of you. Everyone would know when Harry Ramos entered a room! Your smile, your kindness and your compassion to ours always stood out from the rest, and if there happened to be music playing... The most amazing salsa dancer I have ever seen! Your family referred him as the Fred Astere  of our family. He along with his beautiful wife Mickey made such a pair on the dance floor. Thinking back at those times are what gives joy and pride to have known him personally. On this 8th anniversary I would like to extend my prayers to all the families, firefighters, police and emergency personnel who died on that day. May God bless you all! Harry, we will meet again someday! God bless you! Your Cuz, Frankie

You will be forever in our thoughts. You were a great neighbor and friend to my dad, Jose. You are missed!

Harry you are missed! I can't help but think of your courage that day but it does not surprise me a bit. You were one of the nicest guys I have ever known.
At work whatever craziness was going on you always had a smile on your face and a funny joke to tell. God Bless You and your Family!
I know your watching over all of them.

[Ed. - I have just seen a very moving film and testimonies about the survivors of the WTC. Harry, you represent one of these anonymous heroes who saved lives or gave your all to try to do it.... You're a hero at the risk of your life. We will remember you.]

I saw the documentary about 9/11 on RTL. The courage and love they have given Harry on this horrible day is unbelievable. What he did was an big inspiration for me at a time when I was very sick. That I survived this, I say, "Thank you, Lord," and I say, "Thank you, Harry—your courage gives me strength." God bless you and all the other angels from 9/11/2001.

I saw a documentary about September 11th on German TV. In this documentary a worker from his office spoke about the story of Harry. I think Harry was a nice guy.... To me, he is a great hero! R.I.P.

I never met Harry, but I saw a 9-11 story, and it touched me how he stayed behind with Victor. Harry is a true hero. God bless him!

Hey, Harry,

Just watched this documentary on Discovery Channel and heard about you. If it were me in the situation, I probably would have left Victor behind. But you were brave enough to stay with him, even after the Chinese guy left you. God bless.

Dear Ramos,

It's my great honor to get to know about you, a real hero in my mind. I haven't had any chance to learn about you since the terrible event happened. Luckily, in recent days my students and I are learning of your heroic deeds, which have touched us a lot. Thank you for letting us know how to face the ultimate moral dilemma: save yourself, or save another. Thank you very much! May you rest in peace!

I didn't get the chance to read Harry's story until seven years after the horrible event. Harry is definitely a hero for his bravery and generous companionship. Now matter how many years pass, he should not be forgotten!

I knew Harry for short time, but during that time, He and Migdalia were always a delight to be around. Migdalia, I continue to keep you and the boys in my prayers, and know Harry is watching over all of us.

You will be forever missed! I'm so happy to share a last name with him, even if we are related only by marriage! In my heart and in my eyes, he will always be a hero! I saw the reenactment of what he did that day on a biography, and I don't know how he did it, but he did! I didn't know what he did until I saw the movie and understood. It brought me to tears. I couldn't believe Tio did that.... He gave his life to try and save another! Now that's what I call a real man, a real hero, and a man who has tremendous courage!

I admire this wonderful man! I'll always remember him. Harry's death is a great distress even for me! He is a real hero!

Though I have never met Eugene's dad, I can tell he was a very nice person. He knew many people and loved his family and friends. Micky, Eugene, and Alex should know that he will always be in their hearts and will watch them from above. By the way, I know Eugene because he is my classmate and a friend.

I have just watched a dramatisation of 9/11 on cable TV. What Harry did shows he was a true hero in that he gave himself to help another. No one will ever forget. I live in Australia, and I remember the day of 9/11 when the world watched in disbelief the happenings that occurred that day in New York City. Myself and my family have just recently returned from NYC, where we visited ground zero, and the sadness yet the admiration we felt for all those involved was overwhelming. May God bless us all and watch over the world.

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.
