I recently watched a dramatisation of what Harry did... It's the people like this that make this world worth living in. Even though Harry died that day, he continues to touch people who hear his story. To me, although I never knew Harry Ramos, he lives on, influencing people worldwide to better themselves and consider the way they treat people. He and, I'm sure, many other people on 9/11 were true heros, and I have utter respect for him. His family should know that his heroic kindess is appreciated worldwide, and that's the greatest achievment of all :-)

I didn't know Harry personally but I know he was a TRUE HERO. He made the greatest sacrifice a person could make to help another human being. He gave his life. God Bless you Harry Ramos...

what you did.... staying behind to help Victor when you could have easily walked by and saved yourself... that took guts, courage, bravery and kindness. You are a true hero and I cried when I saw on tv what you did. I hope wherever you are you are happy. Rest in peace brother.

Hi. I am from Germany. May God bless all the victims of this terrible attack. And it was a honor for me to see heroes like Harry Ramos or the firefighter Jay Jonas. Harry Ramos was a special kind of human a very good kind of human. I send all my best wishes to his family and to all families who have lost a part of them. May God bless all GOOD humans of this World!

I never met you but you were the one who stood by my uncle on your impending death. It took a lot of courage to do what you did, to console him, to talk to him in the face of death and most of all, for making the ultimate sacrifice. From what I heard, you could have clearly saved yourself but you chose to be with my dear uncle. That's the real definition of a hero: one who stands by the weak and handicapped. I just wanted to say thank you from my family and you are in our thoughts and prayers as well. May God bless you and I thank you with all my heart.

Sorry, my english is not so good, so I must write in German:

ich bewundere, was harry getan hat. ich bewundere seine selbstlosigkeit. ich weiss nicht, ob ich genauso gehandelt hätte. harry ramos ist einer der helden vom 11.September 2001.

ich werde ihn in meine gebete einschliessen. man darf die opfer niemals vergessen und man muss den kampf gegen den terrorismus wirkungsvoll fortführen.

What a wonderful example of humanity at its greatest. Selfless, caring at such a time - when lone escape would have been accepted without question. Thank you Harry for your inspiration and for reminding us all about the importance of loving our fellow human beings.

As a native of the beautiful country that is Northern Ireland I have experienced terrorism first hand for many years of my life although it has been secondary to me and a way of life we have unfortunately have become accustomed to I can never begin to imagine the magnitude of loss that has been suffered and I'm sure to this day and rightly so still is from the events that transpired from the historical tragical day that is 9/11. I am simply a humble pawn in this great world that is life although over some 3,000 miles away I have had the honour of learning the epic tale (a word assigned to heroes which he definitely is) of a great man named Harry Ramos and a name I will always remember due to the manner in which he gave his life the most precious gift awarded to us so selflessly to assist a stranger in his hour of need. As I stated although I am stranger from waters unknown I would like his family to acknowledge that this great man is in my heart and in my eyes a complete legend. R.I.P

I posted previously, but today as I drove into Clifton. I looked at the NY skyline and could not believe that the towers are not there and immediately thought of Harry. I even have a plant that strangely was given to me on the early morning of 9/11 before the attacks, a couple of days later I named the plant Harry and hopefully one day I can give this plant to his family. I had to add another flower to his website. He was a hero and he should never be forgotten! I think of his wife Mickey often and I hope that they are all doing well. My aunt Mily used to rent an apartment from Mickey's mother in Lincoln Avenue and this is how I remember them. I even remember the day she married Harry. These are the memories that I have with me.

TODAY IS MARCH 18TH, 2006...
THERE'S NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE YOUR COURAGE, YOUR HEROISM AND JUST THE QUALITY OF A PERSON YOU ARE.  YOU ARE AND WILL ALWAYS BE MISSED.  5 YEARS HAS PASSED AND YOU'RE STILL FRESHLY ON ALL OUR MINDS... WE ALL KNOW YOU'RE WITH THE LORD NOW AND I KNOW YOU'RE MAKING EVERYONE LAUGH UP THERE... MAY ONE DAY WE'LL ALL  UNITE... HARRY WAS DEFINITELY THE LIFE OF EVERY PARTY, VERY POSITIVE, VERY ENERGETIC AND IT SO MUCH OF HARRY TO STAY BEHIND TO HELP OTHERS.

I grew up with Harry's sister,Evelyn...we were good friends as teenagers...I just stumbled on this surfing the net, I am so sorry to read that Harry was one of those that perished on 9/11.  He was just a young boy at the time I knew him, but he was the one "always" smiling; he had an infectous smile...he was kind even then.  My condolences to his entire family--I'm sure it has been a tremendous loss to all of them.  May he rest in peace.

I am originally from Newark.  Harry will always be remembered and he is a true hero!  I know that he will always be with us in spirit.  May his family continue to find comfort.  He is gone but not forgotten.

I didn't know Harry but I read he stayed behind to look after some heavy-set man. I say that's what I call a hero.
My regards to his family.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
