Happy birthday, tio. The family and I miss you dearly. We pray every day for you, tio. It was a tragic for all of us, but we got past it like you would have wanted us to. But it's still hard for us when the day comes around again. R.I.P., Tio Hector.

Love always,
Your nephew,
Sean Jr.

It's nearly nine years later, and smiles at memories of you have almost replaced the ache—but not quite. Happy Birthday! You are missed so much.

Hector, you are in my prayers, and I think about you all the time. You will always be in my heart.

Hey Uncle Hec,

Just wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten about you. It gets harder and harder each year when September 11th comes around. We lost you so suddenly that we didn't know what to do. I remember crying in the back of our car because they claimed they had found you, and they didn't. They put us through a lot, but we got through it. I love you, uncle, and your godson (Jeyven) and the rest of your nephews and your niece (me) miss you dearly. You will always be remembered. R.I.P., Uncle Hector.

The Child Angel

Let your life come amongst them like a flame of light, my child,
unflickering and pure, and delight them into silence.

They are cruel in their greed and their envy,
their words are like hidden knives thirsting for blood.

Go and stand amidst their scowling hearts, my child,
and let your gentle eyes fall upon them like the
forgiving peace of the evening over the strife of the day.

Let them see your face, my child, and thus know the
meaning of all things, let them love you and love each other.

Come and take your seat in the bosom of the limitless, my child.
At sunrise open and raise your heart like a blossoming flower,
and at sunset bend your head and in silence
complete the worship of the day. And let them not
touch another soul.

Papi,

I miss you so much. I think about you each day that goes by. It feels like you just left yesterday. I always sit and cry, worrying why we had to say goodbye. You are my hero, my heart, my soul, my everything. Papi, I miss and love you so much!

Love always,
Ashley

“The Difference between a Hero and a Victim.”

A hero is one who walks into danger, and a victim is one who finds himself/herself in danger. Firefighter Hector Luis Tirado was a hero for all Americans, and he lives on in the memory of his family and friends who knew him and of those around this nation who never met him. May the earth rest lightly on his grave.

Hey, Hector,

Just wanted to come by your memorial and wish you a happy birthday on your special day.

Hector.... I may have not met him, but I've heard many good things from my father, Victor Rivera and Dj Tirado. May god rest both of their souls, and may god rest Hector's soul as well.

I worked with Hector many years ago delivering flyers in Parkchester. He was always a good man, always had a smile on his face, and always wanted to help people. I moved to Florida to chase my dream, and I see Hector was chasing his. I just recently found out he was lost on 9/11/01. My prayers are with his family. R.I.P., brother.

A hero is someone looked up to,
Whom others could love to be,
A hero is someone who is very courageous
And willing to put their life aside
For another’s happiness or well-being.
A hero is somebody who can make someone’s day.
A hero does not have to be able to fly,
Nor to have any other superhuman power.
Anyone can have a hero, and mine is my father.
One of the greatest heroes of them all,
My hero is who I'm willing to be,
One I can look up to, one that I can't see,
One I know who would have always been there for me.

Love, your son,
denzel tirado

Every time I sit still and daydream, I'm dreaming about the times we spent together, and how when I was with you, I was never sad. I remember the time we spent at the park right by Yankee Stadium, playing tag even though Ashley and Ronald didn't like your girl friend, we all had a great time. I think about, if you were here, how close the family would be, how I would know the Tirado side of me, and how your kids would be together. I miss you and wish you were here. You always told me to be great and someone important in life, so I'm following in your footsteps and becoming a fireman.

Hector was my cousin through my father's side. He and my dad (David Tirado Jr) were very close. May they both rest in peace! Right now they must be catching up on old times and looking down at their family that has grown apart over the years. Hec, I only met you once when I was younger and 'til this day still remember your smile. Many people say that I have your smile. =) I was told that you brighten everyone's day with your smile, and in your pictures that we look at every day, you still do. You will always be in my heart, and I look forward to meeting you again one day.

Love always,
Christina

Hey Hector,

My name is Omayra. I am your daughter's fiance. Even though I never had a chance to meet you, I think you're brave. Your someone who inspires me more and more to become an EMT, even though you might not know it. Someday I want my kids to admire and look up to me as much as your kids admire you. Rest in peace.

I meet Hector when I signed up to become an auxiliary housing police officer. We were the first group at PS8 in the Bronx. My husband was the Trainer Officer. God bless your soul, Hector.

Hector Tirado

Hector was my nephew. I still think that someday he will call me on the phone asking to speak at 1 or 2 am as he did. Usually, he'd call to tell me that he loved me or was thinking about me. Some mornings, he'd appear at my doorstep before I left for work to have coffee. He had the keys to my house. I trusted him more than anyone else. He was not only a true hero for America but for me, as his uncle. He died at WTC Bldg 7. He still lives in my heart and my mind. I treasure every gift he ever gave me. Most especially, his unwavering, unconditional and honest love. God bless him always.

I have yet to know what about the person you are.
Looking in your kids face, you were they star.
You smile so bright with the sun on your face.
You are they father, and never could I replace.
All I know is the stories they tell will remain 4 ever.
Regardless if things flow from a diffrent type of weather.
I respect the person you are,
God had a plan and it took you very far.
For now you are at peace at least,
now minds will remain at peace.
RIP in peace Hector Luis Tirado Jr.

In Memory
What was it you had said?
Why did you have to go?
Each simple little memory
Now passes by so slow.
I am stuck in the yesterday
Not wanting to accept
The horrid truth that you are gone
Your life taken without threat
This morning you awoke
To face a brand new day
But a cold-hearted terrorist
Took that gift away
Though the grave cry for the lost
In the settling of the dust
They failed to shake our foundation
For in God we put our trust.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

This web site is affiliated with 24K Gold Music Shows - an oldies music showband performing in Central Florida. The members of the showband feel strongly that there were many heroes manifested during the onslaught of terror associated with 9-11, and present this site as a memorial to those whose lives were lost, and the loved ones they left behind.

24K Gold Music Shows perform primarily 50-60s Oldies, Elvis songs, DooWop, and older country music, as well as patriotic songs. All of the musicians, singers, dancers, and staff of the 24K Gold Music Shows extend their deepest sympathies to every one who lost loved ones on that terrible day.

24K Gold Music Shows performs an original song called "The Day America Cried", which is a 9-11 tribute song. In the live shows, they honor with the song not only the heroes of 9-11 but also those who are still alive: the police personnel, firefighters, emergency personnel, soldiers, and others who have served our country and kept us all safe.

Listen also to this beautiful, touching song "Love Can Build a Bridge" by 24K Gold Music Shows. Even though strictly speaking it's not a 9-11 memorial song, I still feel it is a very fitting song for the occasion!
