I just got back from Iraq and was surfing the web when I ran across the fact that Jimmy was killed on 9/11. I grew up across the street from Jimmy. His brother John was my friend for years, and I went to sleep at night listening to Lee's piano playing. I will always remember what a great family they were — boys being boys. I never knew him as an adult, but I am sure he was wonderful.... Rest in peace.

Well, Tara got engaged last week, and I can't help but think about Jim ... and Deb and Tara—his first daughter getting married. What would Jim think of Pete? What advice would he give them? And how handsome they would have been walking down the aisle, Jim as the proud dad, and Tara his beautiful daughter. And then there's the PARTY. Jim was always the life of the party. It's a great time to reflect on Jim and all the blessings he would have wanted to share with his daughter and new son-in-law. I know he will be there ... as he always is, in our hearts.

I wish I could have met Mr. Amato. He has an amazing and loving family. One of his children has inspired me and helped me in ways I never thought possible. Even though she and I are no longer friends, still I am eternally thankful for that. Rest in peace, and know that you and your family are always in my prayers.

I'm an Amato, and I remember just a little of my uncle, but it's still so much in my mind. I loved him so very much! And I still do. He was an amazing hard worker. I love talking about him, and I can't wait to see him in paradise. Things have changed. Every time I think about him, I start to wanna cry because he was about everything to me and my family. I can't wait to see my hero and the person I look up to again. =) Not only was he an uncle to me, he was also a dad. He was loving, very funny, and always comforting. I miss my family so very much. 3
I love you, Uncle Jimmy, with all my heart. You're always in my memories now and forever!
Your niece,
Alexandra

I will never be able to see how anyone could have benefited from the murder of Capt. James Amato. I pray that James Amato rests in peace, that Capt Amato's family and friends find comfort and that God continues to Bless America. I would like to know when Capt Amato's birthday is, so that I can acknowledge it when it comes around again. Thanks!

Well, it's been 5 years now and boy has life changed. I've been married now for over 3 years, and Jim never got to meet my lovely wife, Emily. I've told her alot about what a great man he was, and she looks forward to meeting him someday in paradise. I loved Jim and think about him often. He is truly missed, but I am comforted knowing that I will see him again.
Amato family, if you're reading this, I want to let you know that not only do I miss Jim, but I also miss the whole family. I miss the way it used to be when I could come over and hang out with the whole family - Jim, Debbie, Sean, Tara, Katherine, and Ashley all together in the house on 5th St in Ronkonkoma.
To my "little sisters" Tara, Katherine, and Ashley, you know I love you all sincerely from the bottom of my heart and I will always be there for you. We have lost touch, though, which is sad, please give me a call. My cell number is still the same.
To Sean - love you bro, call me anytime you wanna talk.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
what kind of person he/she was,
what nice points you remember about him/her,
what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
what you two perhaps did together,
what he/she meant to you,
or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.
Thank you for your understanding in these matters.

This web site is affiliated with 24K Gold Music Shows - an oldies music showband performing in Central Florida. The members of the showband feel strongly that there were many heroes manifested during the onslaught of terror associated with 9-11, and present this site as a memorial to those whose lives were lost, and the loved ones they left behind.
24K Gold Music Shows perform primarily 50-60s Oldies, Elvis songs, DooWop, and older country music, as well as patriotic songs. All of the musicians, singers, dancers, and staff of the 24K Gold Music Shows extend their deepest sympathies to every one who lost loved ones on that terrible day.
24K Gold Music Shows performs an original song called "The Day America Cried", which is a 9-11 tribute song. In the live shows, they honor with the song not only the heroes of 9-11 but also those who are still alive: the police personnel, firefighters, emergency personnel, soldiers, and others who have served our country and kept us all safe.
Listen also to this beautiful, touching song "Love Can Build a Bridge" by 24K Gold Music Shows. Even though strictly speaking it's not a 9-11 memorial song, I still feel it is a very fitting song for the occasion!
