I am an old friend and co-worker of Marie Barbella from our working days in Manhattan. I think of the Barbella family on this day each year, but my prayers are with you year round. May the peace of the Lord be with you always.

Today marked the 10th anniversary of that fateful day. I watched and listened as I have in years past for your name to be read. Today was special as your daughter Sarah payed tribute. Sarah your dad was a great man and a friend. He will never be forgotten. Rest in peace Jim.

Hi Sarah, I am your cousin from Ohio... I never met your dad. But I do know your grandparents Ruth and Frank. I am still in disbelief to this day that our nation suffered such a horrible act on 9/11. I know my parents visited your dad at the towers before, he had given them tours. They thought very highly of him. He is a hero in our eyes. We will never forget.

I wanted to show my respects to Mr. James W. Barbella. I am doing a report about him, along with a woman named Colleen Ann Barkow, in my English class. I wanted to tell you that I am very sorry for your loss and hope for only the best memories. He is one of the reasons I am so happy to do this project because I want to honor him and let people know in my town what a hero he is to most people. Thank you for the information you have put out about him. It helps a lot with my paper, and I'm honored to do a project about this individual. I'm only a freshman in high school, and I never really understood until this year what an impact this has made on our nation. Thank you for everything!

Dearest Daddy,
Seven-and-a-half years have gone by without you with us. We miss you terribly, and unfortunately I'm totally lost without you.

I was visiting the WTC museum across from ground zero, and I bought a bracelet in a bag, and it had James' name on it, and my heart still goes out to his family and everyone else's that lost someone that day.... May God be with you.

Seven years ago, and still the images are there. I received a Mercyband in honor of James W. Barbella, PAPD, from my mother. In loving memory of not only James Barbella, but to all who perished that September day. I have not forgotten.

I/we at the Port Authority Electric Shop at JFK think about Jim often. I worked at WTC as a Duty Supervisor with Jim. He was a kind, gentle, and honest person.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.
