I went to the Bryant high school prom with Jason and was amazed to find out he passed away on 9-11. He was a wonderful guy and I am not surprised at his success in life. It is a shame that he had to leave us so soon. God bless him and his family.

This is a message for Wilton Sekzer, father of Jason Sekzer. I watched the movie, "Why We Fight." Actually, my husband bought the movie. My father was in WWII. I just wanted to say that I very much appreciated listening to what you had to say and seeing the journey that you made throughout the movie. You are a person I would like to meet someday. I live in Texas.

Blessings,
Pastor Sister Katy Fusselman

Mr Sekzer,

Thank you for your honesty in a great film. Your son was a great American who put his life on the line in a war that, like many, turn out to be fought for political reasons instead of necessity. The soldier's job is not to question orders but to do as instructed. The warrior should always be honored even if we later find flaws with "the cause." It is our job as citizens to monitor the permanent military footing our country now adopts and vote to insure our young men and women do not sacrifice their lives unless it is completely necessary in defense of our country. You are a true patriot to stand up, tell the truth, and ask tough questions. I admire you and am sorry for your loss.

Dear Mr. Sekzer,

First and foremost, my condolences to your and your family for the loss of your son. Second, I watched "Why We Fight" for a second time, and I think that your participation in the documentary is a great tribute to your son. Challenging our compatriots to think and to question is an incredibly patriotic act. Thank you.

I too saw the documentary "Why We Fight," and just as Mr. Wilton Sekzer, I am disillusioned in our country's political policies. Dwight Eisenhower may have been a brilliant military strategist and visionary essayist (his farewell speech was superb), but to me the heart of a father in grief undoubtedly made an indelible impression upon me. I grew up in a single-parent home and knew nothing of the qualities of a good father, which no doubt Wilton Sekzer is. My heart-felt prayers will always be with him, though nothing will ever heal his pain. May God bless his remaining years, and may he find comfort in bringing his awareness of "911" to others.

My condolences to the Sekzer family. I worked with both Will and Jason at a facility in the early nineties and later with Jason at Cantor. Jason was a great guy and one that would make any father like Will proud.

I feel bad for the 9-11 'cause my teacher's sis died in that attack.

I will honor your boy’s memory by telling my young boy about him. Your boy’s spirit and memory will live within the innocence of my young boy after I tell him. My young guy won’t be told why I think the day happened or what was allowed to happen after it did happen. All my little guy will know was that your kid was good and had a good heart (like his old man).

I think Jason's father was very brave in appearing in "Why We Fight." My love and sympathy go out to the entire family. I am sure that Jason was an amazing human being. It seems he had a great foundation beneath him.

As a man who knows Willie Sekzer personally, I can tell you that he is even more of a man than people interpret him to be. I, too, am a retired NYC Police Officer and worked with Willie in the 83rd Pct. My colleagues would agree that there was never a more capable and dependable police officer that you would ever find. Seeing you, Willie, in that documentary, 'Why we fight,' just confirmed everything that I already believed about you. You were always a stand-up guy, and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. God bless you all, and may Jason's sacrifice enlighten us all.

Always your brother,
Pat

Dear Wilton Sekzer:

I read the article about your altruistic brave son in Parade Magazine. Your son was awesome! He was what made America great!

Fam. Sekzer,
Wilton Sekzer,

I saw Wilton Sekzer in a recent documentary on Dutch television, about the disaster of 9/11, about his son Jason who saved other people, but lost his own life. I was touched by this interview. You, Mr. Wilton Sekzer, said exactly the right words about what happened and still does. I admire your strength, your questions and answers. I think a lot of people will agree with you. I do. I think Jason was like his father. Jason would be proud of you. I wish you and your family all the best.

Best wishes from Holland.
vriendelijke groet,
Enny

I was shocked when I saw a newscast, probably in 2002, in which Willie spoke of Jason. I was so terribly sorry to hear of your personal tragedy. Evelyn, I have no idea how to reach you, but I've tried to find your phone number without any luck.

I have a photo of myself holding Jason as a baby. It was taken in your parents' apt. on 173rd Street. If you care to get in touch with me, please contact me by e-mail at sbrm5@juno.com

Again, Victor and I send our most heartfelt condolences.

With love,
Susan

Dear Jason

You do not know me, but I have been assigned to write a tribute speech about you after the tragic attack on the Twin Towers. I have done a bit of research and I must say that America has truly lost a valuable citizen. I read about your father, about Camp Sussex, and Natasha. I hope that your family is well and god bless them all.

I would just like to say that I neither knew Jason nor his father at all nor any of the people that died on 9/11 but I must say that if Jason were even half the man I percieve his father to be from a recent documentary I viewed, than the world has lost someone truly remarkable and I can only offer my deepest condolences to his suviving family. To his father I say this; I believe you to be a man of great values and someone that believes in truth and justice. The request you made for your son's name was a justified one and should you in no way ever be regretful of it.

Thank you,

A Poem for America

America the Beautiful
America the great
If this is true
Why was this our fate?
Was it something we did?
Was it something we said?
Even if so
Do all those people deserve to be dead?
We are going through horror
We are going through pain
Yet we are not to worry
For justice we shall gain
We must pray and stick together
Pray and be strong
Finding the one responsible will not take too long
And when we do find them
We will make them pay
And that my brothers and sisters
Will be the most glorious day!

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
