I learned about your death on the Discovery Channel where your parents watched your name be engraved for the memorial. Your parents love you very much. You will remembered forever as long as this memorial stands. This memorial will outlive all that witnessed and watched this horrible day unravel. Rest in Peace and although so young your life was so filled with the ones who will remember you and the ones who love you. God Bless your soul and I know now that you are with God, I hope your family can find peace in that. We will never forget!

I met Jeannie when I was fourteen years old. I dated her cousin and spent time with Jean, Jimmy and Graham at their Grandparent's house at "The Bay." I was a townie, as they called me, and Jean was considered the baby of the pack that first summer. We didn't spend too much time together that first year that we met, but we began to write to each other and talk on the phone almost every night.

The following summer, and the one after that, Jean and I spent many a night wreaking havoc at the lake and in town. She had a wild spirit, as do I, and her love of life (and of course that smile) was infectious. She lit up any room that she entered, she laughed all of the time and made us laugh too. There are some memorable evenings spent with Jean that I think back on and I keep those safe in my heart.

I was living in Washington, DC and will never forget the moment that I saw Jean's name on CNN. It had been only a few months before that I had run into Anne. We were shocked to meet in the Gap, of all places, and Anne told me that Jean had become a flight attendant. She also told me that Jean was going to be visiting in a few weeks. Anne gave me her phone number, but I never called. Our lives had gone in different directions and we had lost touch. I wish that I had called Anne, just to have one more night with Jean.

I think of her every day. I pray for her, I think of her family and I cry because she was such a beautiful person and the world needed more people like Jean.

I miss you Jean. Today is September 11, 2010 and you are with all of us. I know that you would not want anyone to be sad. You'd simply say, "Come on, don't be so sad," and link you arm through mine, as you did on so many nights.

Jean made the world exciting yet incredibly safe. Everything felt better when you were with Jean. She had a way of making the impossible become possible.

I will never forget you Jean. I will never forget you either Jimmy, Graham, Punky, Gog and Pop and your little white house on the beach. I will never forget swimming in the lake with Jean by moonlight, sharing secrets about love and love lost, and walking the streets of the Bay when life was new and simple, and we had the world at our fingertips.

I love you, Jean. You are, and forever will be a wonderful memory of my youth. I know that somewhere, someplace, you are still smiling.

Jillian

Wow, I never knew we lost someone on 9/11 who lives so close to me (I live in Springfield). Though I didn't know you, Jean, I mourn your loss. Knowing that someone in my community was lost on that horrible day ... hits so much closer to home. R.I.P., Jean.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.

Thank you for your understanding in these matters.
