Dear Karen,
As the tenth anniversary of your loss approaches my thoughts have been with you and John jr. I was a nurse at Westchester Medical after John was brought there with his diagnosis. I have a vivid memory of a conversation with your husband, John. I remember asking him why you came to us from Conn? He was such a sweet man. He responded that his brother had recommended him to WMC but he was going to start a new job at this place in NYC Cantor Fitzgerald and that would allow him to spend more time with his son John and beautiful wife. I remember how nice I thought he was and how you were all the "perfect" family! On that day who knew that our lives would intersect again, this time my new husband down at the trade center and your John up in Cantor Fitzgerald a place I had never heard of before. I thought of him then....have listened for his name at the memorial ceromonies...and said lots of silent prayers for him and your family. Although through the grace of God my husband is alive and well, please know my prayers are still with you today..ten years later. Hope you and Johnny are well. Pat Calvano (nee Lightfoot) RN.

Last May I visited the 911 site and while in the process of reading the names of the 9-11 heroes, I noticed the name John Fiorito. Albeit, I didn't know John..I am assuming that given his surname, that we are somewhat related..as our name is not at all common. I feel a void given his tragic death and pray for him and his family. I reside in San Francisco and all of the Fiorito family prays that he is in God's hands and that his family will be provided with God-given strength to carry on. --Anthony Fiorito

i was only 13 years old when the 9/11 attacks happened and I did not know Mr Fiorito at all...however, my family is close friends with His Brother's family, so even though 5 years later some people forgot, my heart still breaks for his wife and young child....

rest in peace

I'm Ken Sullivan's 2nd daughter, and though I barely knew Mr. Fiorito, I loved him like an uncle for his attitude towards friends, and strangers alike.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.
