I remember you as the big kid down the street who was always kind to the little kids- like me. You used to help me cross Ave M to get to school.
I will remember you.

Jay,
I am sorry your gone, but you left as a hero to us all especially to your family. Growing up across the street back in Brooklyn I can say from all of the kids on the block you were the big brother of the block. After your passing I got to chat with your Father was so proud of you he told me the other times you were a hero from rescue a jumper off the bridge to the first attack on WTC in 93. God Bless you and may you rest in peace.

Hi, Uncle Jay,

Recently I wrote a story on my hero, and I chose you. No one will ever realize how amazing you were and how much I look up to you. After writing about you, I decided to research you, and I found this website. When I saw that 2,012 people visited this page, it made me smile. Many people know how amazing you are, but I know the most of all, because of the many good times with you that happened years ago. I still remember. They are still making me smile. I love you, my hero! <3

Your best friend,
Andie

Hey, Jay,

I remember, I remember
The roses, red and white,
The violets, and the lily-cups,
Those flowers made of light!
The lilacs, where the robin built,
And where my brother set
The laburmum on his birthday,-
The tree is living yet.
— Thomas Hood

Happy birthday! :-)

Love,
Donnamarie

My name is also John Lennon, and I live in Scotland. I googled my name, and this website caught my attention. I remember vividly that terrible day, John. I hope and pray that you and all those other brave souls are at peace after making the ultimate sacrifice. God bless you all.

Jay,

A funny thing happened today, I googled your name, and about 20 websites came up with your name, so many more than usual, so I decided to write to you again.

You have been on my mind a great deal this last week, not only because of 9/11. You have been popping into my mind at odd times of the day. I don't know what it all means, but I felt that I should acknowledge you again.

Jay, you are my hero, and nothing will ever make me forget that. I hope you know that. I wish you were my hero under very different circumstances.

Just finished watching WORLD TRADE CENTER, I watched to make sure I never forget what you and countless others did for people that day. I picked your name from the list of the fallen because it stood out to me. I just wanted to say thank you and God Bless you for your courage. People like you are what keeps this country moving. WE WILL NEVER FORGET.

Hope is like a bird that senses the dawn and carefully starts to sing while it is still dark.

Love you!

My name is Chris, and I was lucky enough to be rewarded with the John J. Lennon memorial scholarship last year as I graduated Howell High School in New Jersey. I know that I never got the chance to meet you personally, John, and I cannot even begin to imagine the horror and devastation that you witnessed personally on that day that we will all never forget....

I just wanted to say that it is simply not possible to describe how much your heroism and sacrifice meant to so many others on that day. I can speak for all Americans when I say that we are eternally grateful for what you and so many others did on that day.

I am currently a freshman at the Richard Stockton College of NJ, pursuing a career in Criminal Justice. I hope to obtain my masters degree in 5 years, specializing in Homeland Security. I hope to someday do my part to help make this great country of ours safe in the future and make you proud. I sure have large shoes to fill, and I'm not even sure I will be able to, but I will definitely try my best.

So thank you, John. I surely cannot thank you enough for what you have done. I hope I can do some good in your name. God bless you. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Chris

John,

Though I have never met you, you are one of the heroes of America. You helped people. You saved lives. In the World Trade Center catastrophe, you were the brave one who stepped up and fought to save lives. I am proud of you. I am proud for all Americans because we stood together. We helped each other. We have fought for you, John. Goodbye.

I come from Australia, had just come home from a Barbie Q, I saw the second plane, thought it was a movie, have just finished watching World Trade Center, my heart goes out to everyone who lost a loved one on that terrible day, God be with you all.

Today is January 22nd, 2007 and I am thinking of you again. I just wanted to write to say that you are not very far from my thoughts on any given day, and I am grateful to you every day.

Thank you again, as if I can ever thank you enough.

May you rest in peace. I know your son, and go to school with him. And I just realized from your daughters profile that since you were their hero i'd look you up... but i'm glad I did. Everyone needs a little cry.. every once and a while. I honestly am sitting here up at 1:17 am in Neshanic Station and feel tears trying so hard to stay in my tear ducts. You aren't only their hero, you're my hero as well. God Bless you forever, you're in my heart.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
