Mr. O'Neill,

I really did not get to know you towards the end of you bureau career but remember you with a smile. You were a caring person. Bless your soul and until we meet again.

Here in the UK a two part drama called "The Path to 911" is an incredibly moving story of how John P O'Neill fought for justice and was passionate about his job and saving fellow American innocent civilians from Terrorism. He along with all the other WTC victims died unnecessarily and could have been prevented if John had been listened to. May he rest in peace.

You will always be remembered as a true patriot, an American hero. If only you had been allowed to do your job, you would still be a hero and still doing your job. Thank you for your service, and for dedicating your life to protecting me and my family, being complete strangers and at the same time the countrymen you gave your life for. I will never forget.

It is shameful that those running our country would allow such an important person as John be treated and ignored in the name of the mighty dollar in the their pockets....I found that John has integrity and determination that those running our government should take a lesson in. May John rest in peace and know that the American people are learning the TRUTH...and I commend you for being an advocate in helping take these vicious murderers off the the street...YOU ARE A HERO FOREVER IN MY MIND AND HEART..YOU TRULY WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN

I'm sorry for their personal agendas and the bureaucracy, that obstructed you from doing your job. I thank you for having the courage to stand up for your beliefs and all your attempts to protect us. You are our hero! They said, 'only the good die young' and sadly we now know it's true. Thank you for loving your country, all of us and for being the man you were. I keep you and your loved ones in my prayers and will continue until I'm gone, but I also thank G_d for sending you to grace us with your presence. You protected us in life and you continue to watch over us now. For all of us who don't have fathers, you are a worthy example to emulate and we are grateful for you as our role model. You may not be one of our founding fathers, but you watched over us and tried to protect us like a devoted father to their child and America loves you for that. May you continue to inspire us to always do our best and live our lives with honor. You are an angel and now no one will stop you from taking care of us. G_d bless you, your family and our beloved country.

With sincere sympathy,

After the ABC special I just wanted to thank John for his dedication and contribution in trying to prevent tragedy on 911. He was a true patriot.

I first heard about you from watching a PBS Frontline piece entitled "The Man Who Knew" and I have been forever changed from that moment. I purchased the video of that program, I've googled and read just about everything there is to know about John P. O'Neill. What an amazing person you were. How lucky we were to have had you "watching-our-backs" and what a shame that you are not here now when we so desperately need your expertise - for there is no one now and probably the foreseeable future who had your ability. You knew the danger that was out there and you tried in vain to alert the powers-that-be, sadly they didn't heed your warnings and the event you had tried so hard to prevent occured on September 11, 2001, the day you lost your life along with over 2,700 Americans. I think of you every day, John O'Neil, you are missed.

God Bless you John, I am proud that you tried to get the FBI to go after Osama, but ashamed they didn't listen to you.
You resigned because of your frustration, and became head of security at the World Trade Centre. Your first day on the job was the 10th of September 2001.
From one Irish man to another and the world.
Your service will not be forgotten.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.
