On 9/11/2011, my daughter, her husband, my granddaughter and 2 great-granddaughters attended a memorial gathering in downtown Orlando attended by several-hundred people, a couple of which witnessed first-hand the devastation in NYC. There were also many NYC firemen attending the event. We witnessed a formal military, law enforcement and firefighter presentation with the mayor, many officials participating. We wanted you to know that John Patrick was remembered with a small flag, along with all the other almost 3000 saints.

I cant remember the very first time I met John but he was a very good friend of a good friend of mine. He was a dark Irish teddy bear of a guy who was loved by everyone. I only remember exchanging laughs at all the partys we would be at in the old Bronx bars we would be hanging out at in : from Chips in Westchester square to the Irish festivals in Hunter Mountain. His wife Franny and son James have become friends of mine. Johns light of love continues to shine in all who knew him. Heaven is a brighter place with his loving presence, until we meet again.....

I visited John's site because my maiden name is Gallagher. I'm sure John was a great person on earth and is a great spirit in heaven. From one Irish girl to another Irish soul.

I was shocked today while watching the 9/11 ceremony to see John's picture. I'd not known until now that he was amongst the victims of that atrocious day. I barely knew John when we were teens, but he was on my mind the other day, and now I know why.
My thoughts are with his family, all who knew and loved John. I am floored by how such an tragedy can reach through the years, back to when this happened, back to when I knew John, and leave someone as shaken as I was today.

John was my cousins' uncle on their other side of the family, but he was only 6 years older than me. I remember one time when the whole family got together for some function, we were all playing together outside and laughing and having fun. Even though I only met him a couple of times, I remember John being very fun to be around, laughing and smiling. I have a daughter that is his son's age and I can't help but think how sweet it is that his little boy is here and has made John live on.

John lived around the block from me on Newbold Avenue in the Bronx. He was quiet, kind and always had a smile. I just found out that he was a victim of 911 recently and was horrified to hear this. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and all his family members

I went to high school with John. We were not in the same class but we had mutual friends. Over the years I would see him at certain social functions, including in the good ol' Bronx. He always went out of his way to say hello to me. He was a good guy, and I'll miss seeing him.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.
