I never knew this web site existed until my husband (Jon) printed it for me about John. I knew John and his sister Sandy from Eau Claire. I was in the Sundowners Drum and Bugle Corps with them when we were kids. My sister Kris was part of the Doll and Pet parade with John when they won first prize being the "Beverly Hillbillies." My husband Jon graduated from Memorial High School with Sandy. Sandy married Dr. Shelly, who takes great care of my mother, Jan. While reading these comments, I had to smile at the remarks about the grilled cheese sandwich being called a "cheese toastwich" because that's what we called it, too.

Even though I hadn't seen John in years before 9/11, he was a part of my childhood, memories you never forget. He was a sincere, goodhearted person who had a great smile and personality. He will be forever missed. I wish you and your children and family continued peace. My you know God's healing through other people's actions and words.

I don't know if we are related, but I plan on finding out. If we are, I am sorry I never met you, and I am sorry you had to pass away like that. If we are not, I will always remember you more than anyone else on the day of remembrance, 9/11.

I'm thinking of you, John, on this September 11th, as I always do on this day. I told my kids about you this morning. You were such a good dad. I remember stopping by to drop something off to Laurie and meeting you for the first time. I caught you in the middle of being protective of Laurie's oldest daughter and who she was talking to on the phone. I was impressed by your strong love and concern for her. We were right in the middle of getting to know you when you left this earth. I will always remember you.

All I share with John Patrick Hart is a surname. Perhaps our families are related, perhaps not. But on this day of remembrance, it seems right to pay a simple tribute to someone who was so loved.

My family and I went to church at North Hampton Methodist. We were in a church group with you and John a few times. His memory is dear to all of us. He touched us deeply whenever he spoke in church. One of my fond memories of him was a bunch of us playing basketball at church. He was such a great guy. We will never forget him and will forever keep you and your family in our prayers.

Your mother joined you last week, and as a member of the American Legion Honor Guard, we were honored and very proud to perform the firing squad honors at her funeral in recognition of her service in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

I worked with John in the late 90s at KeyCorp. Doug Thompson and I often recall the fond memories we have of John. He was the man we want to more like.

Laurie, we hope time has brought you and the children healing for your loss. It is important you know his memory lives strong with Doug and I. He left a positive, lasting imprint on our lives.

As always my family and I are thinking of John. I am so glad to say that I knew him, and am proud to let people know what a strong, loving, and courageous man he was. He is looking down at all of you and is so proud! My heart goes out to all of you. He is missed and will never be forgotten. xoxoxoxo

Dear Laurie, my connection to you was our hair place in Danville (Manuel). But that connection allowed me the privilege of praying for you and your family these last years through your loss of a great husband and father. Only a bit of time separates us from a great reunion one day. I pray God has brought healing to your hearts,

sincerely,
mona mutz

Laurie,

I think of your family often and wonder how you and the kids are doing. John was a really great man. I will never forget his great smile every time I saw him at the mailbox. He was always happy! At Christmas time I always think of the wonderful plate of baked goodies that John and Emily brought out to me as I was delivering your mail. I hope and pray that you and your family are doing well.

Laurie,
I am thinking and praying for you today as you are missing your best friend. Even though his body is gone, his spirit will always be with you. I know that he is protecting you and the kids while he is up there with our father. I would love to give you and the kids a hug but I am not where you are. Please accept this message as love from afar. ----Tiffany (Kellerhoff) Thomas

Hi John Hart Family. Just checking in. You are on my family's thoughts and prayers this day and every 9/11. On the USS Midway, in San Diego's Mission Bay, they are reciting the names of all the 9/11 victims this morning. I just want you to know there are people all over this country who will never forget John Hart.

Laurie,

I just want you to know that you and your family are in the prayers of many, especially as the anniversary of 9/11 nears each year. I would write every family who lost a loved one that day if I could: Having you in my Bible study has given me more compassion for all survivors, even all the way out here in California. I hope you and your family are surrounded by love on 9/11 and on every day of the year. None are forgotten!

Jon was a good friend of my brother (Don Southard), so I know him from "way back when." Jon was such a great guy ... always had a smile on his face and was nice to Don's little sister. I just stumbled across this site looking for something on Eau Claire's doll and Pet Parade. Jon was an active water skier and had TONS of friends! He is still missed in his home town!

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
