John and I were in an intership program together. John took me under his wings and mentored me and always had a smile on his face and full of energy. He was a great person! He will always be remembered!

Robbie you are gone but not forgotten. I had the pleasure of being your next door. Playing sports in the neighbor with you and Phil after school and the rest guys on our block. You were always smiling and kind to everyone you met. RIP my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your wonderful family your Mom, Dad and Phil on this 10th anniversary.

I was a teacher at the Ella G.Clarke School and lived in Raintree. I remember John well. He always had a beautiful smile and was a good student. The school community was saddened to hear of his passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out for you John and your family.

John, It has been ten years today that Our Lord called you home. You are still deeply missed by all who knew you. Gone - but you will never be forgotten. Continue to Rest in Peace.

Although I was very young when I knew him I will never forget. My mom and uncle grew up with John Cruz in Lakewood. They were all best friends. He was in my uncles wedding along with me and my cousins. I remember being about 8 years old and John took my cousins, brother and myself to a lake and made fishing poled out of sticks and sting with us. Those are only some of the few memories I have from being so young. As a student in college I often have discussions on 9/11 and I attend services regularly. I always think of him. My family loves you, and we will never forget <3

John and I were good friends at both Lakewood Middle School and High School. We played soccer together, however I went on to star in track and field. John later became the President of the Class of 1986. A very popular, well-like guy and cool with the ladies. John "my brother" we all miss you and wish that you could still be here. Save me a good seat in Heaven!

I was just searching for John Cruz on the web, as he was my roommate in sophomore year of college at Penn State. I never knew he passed away. Que Dios te bendiga siempre, John!

I grew up in the same "raintree" development... we all knew him as "Robbie" Cruz. An incredible heartbreak for me as an an American that day.... made that much more personal when I could put a face with the tragedy. My condolences to his family - I think of them often

NEVER FORGET

When I look back on my middle school years and high school years, John Cruz is a face that always comes to mind. Not only were we great friends, but we went to our Senior prom together and had such a great time. He was so worried about picking out the perfect tie for his suit so it would complement what I was wearing. He always had a smile on his face no matter what. I remember him being very good at math and he would help me with my homework. I remember when he worked at AT&T and he gave me his picture work ID card. I still have it along with tons of pictures from our high school years. I could go on and on about what a special person he was, but anyone who knew him, knows that. John Cruz, you will always be remembered and I am a better person for knowing you.

John Cruz, "Robbie," as we knew him. Where do I begin to express my feelings for this man who lost his life at such a young age? Robbie and I were close friends in HS, but then we became family once his brother, Phil, married my sister, Maria. Robbie had such a great personality. He would light up a room with his laugh and smile. How his family misses him so, as do I. Life without this young man has been difficult, but they keep his spirit alive by always talking about him. Robbie would have been successful in his life today, and it's a shame that we couldn't bear witness to that. I'm sure that's how it would have been because of his determination and hard work. Robbie, thank you for being a good friend and for our laughs. I cried myself to sleep the day I knew you were taken from us, and my heart is still heavy because you do not grace us with your presence. Rest in peace, dear friend. I love you. <3

I met John as a intern for Prudential, he later graduated and became a member of our family. John was a good guy, funny athletic and loved his family. I will always remember John. My sympathy goes out to his family but I know that he is in a better place than all of us, God bless and he will always be remember for his passion and his spirit.

Sincerely, Jeff Roberson Jr.

My first thought this morning was of you. I could not imagine what your family must go through this time every year, and how they must miss you. My prayers are with them. You made me laugh and I am glad to have known you.

Back in H.S. you used to call me the big sister you never had, and how proud of was of that. You were a great person. One day I will see you again my friend.

John and I had English together our junior year at Lakewood High. It was the year he was diagnosed with diabetes and because I've had the same disease since age 13, he asked me a ton of questions about it. He was part of the popular crowd, but was very down to earth. A few days after 9/11, my brother told me about John.... He is the closest connection I have to it, and EACH year I listen for his name when the names of the victims are read at the memorial. Each year I still cry for John, his family, and ALL of those devastated by that sad day. I definitely will NEVER FORGET.

Gone but never forgotten. You will always be missed, and one day we will see each other in heaven. R.I.P.

I knew more of John in middle school than high school.... He was such a nice guy, with a great smile, and very down to earth. Although we didn't know each other well, I think of him often since hearing about his passing.... The world was a better place with him in it. I hope that he is at rest and his fanily at peace.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
