John, we worked together as security consultants working on the WTC security systems 1998-2000. We both knew that it was ground zero before 911. John, we became true friends, we spent many happy times together "off" the job. I respected your knowledge and ability, we became a team. John always seemed to know the right answer. I will never forget you John, you walked back into those buildings to help save people knowing full well the danger that was there. You are a true hero.

I worked with John in 2000 as an security engineer for the Port Authority. John was so well respected by his peers for his professionalism and dedication to his work. We worked together for several months at that time and I can honestly say that its not surprising that John voluntarily went back inside the buildings to help others. He is definitely a hero and his family should be very proud.

John Fisher was a wonderful and talented engineer. He worked with my husband on Port Authority security projects. John ran back into the buildings that day on 9/11 because he knew he could help. He knew where security cameras were placed, and he knew he could help direct firemen to find people trapped on the upper floors. John was pulling away from the building when the first jetliner hit. His friend Ed called to him not to go. But John was that kind of helpful person and simply had to go. He died saving many lives. His body was one of the last pulled out of the wreckage six months after the collapse. I looked up at the TV that day in March of 2002 and saw three flag-draped coffins being carried from the site. I knew that one of them was John. It turned out I was right. John's brilliance is missed. Thank you, John, for all you did that day. We will not forget you and all you sacrificed so that others could live. God bless you, friend.

John and I met in 1972 when I was attending a frat party at NCE (at the time, Newark College of Engineering). I attended Montclair State College, and he just started at NCE at the young age of 17. The last time I saw him was the summer of 1979 or 1980 when I was living in Florida. Just last year I learned of his death and fortunately have been in touch with his sister, Tina, since then. Years may pass, but we never forget those individuals who were special to us.

To the Family, I never John, but his name was given to my daughter at her school on the 5th Anniversay. We have all prayed for you and your family. I hold his name to my heart and his name is displayed in my office and pray for you all each day. May God bless you all. From the Gomez Family in Alhambra, CA.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments.
