Think of you and Mary often, I remember the last and exact place we spoke. Walking across the street in NYC across from your office. Just unbelievable.

John,

You are not forgotten. May you rest in peace and please God. Bring comfort to your dear parents, siblings, loved ones, and friends.

I read John's obituary. Didn't he also have a sister named Kathleen? I am curious as to why she was omitted from his obituary as a relative.

I am John Farrell. I am now 41. My high-school friend from Glen Cove, L.I., Matt Mcdermitt (who also lived in Basking Ridge) died on 9/11. My brother is NYPD. He helped to pull the dead from the towers. I am sorry John Farrell died. It could have been me. I am so sorry for him and all the souls that died on that day. I will never let their souls be forgotten.

He was the best man we knew! Our family is good friends with his family, and God bless them for being the happy family they are! Our daddy went to high school with him, and he was a godfather to Carrie and me! We loved him then and still do! He is definitely a guardian angel, and we love him very much for that! Love you! God bless you guys, Kaitlin, Molly, Colin, Patrick, and Mrs. Farrell! Love you guys soooooo much!

This man has my mom's maiden last name. God bless him.

I was John's high school football coach at Bernard's High School. I remember John, and his humor, like it was yesterday. Just recently, I was visiting with friends in New Jersey (we currently live in Iowa) who suggested that we visit the 9/11 memorial at the Eagle Rock Reservation. When I walked up to the wall of names there, the first name I encountered of the 3000+ was John's. It was overwhelming. As I have read more of John's life and his contributions to his family (I remember his wife also) and his community, I am so glad that he was a part of my life. I send my sincere pledge of prayers and ask for God's comfort and blessings on all those who share this.

I worked with John in Baltimore. He was always very funny. He had a very dry sense of humor and never let us get away with anything without a quick retort.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.
